What is your homepage?

Is it just one page, like google or perhaps even google/ig which quite a few people now use for it's better integration with Gmail and RSS.

Do you have multiple homepages by using the built in IE feature, or Firefox plugin? Perhaps it's even about:blank.

What do you consider you need for a homepage, and what could make it better?

If this sounds like a survey, it may be because it is in a way and I don't think this topic has come up before, if at all :-)

about:blank, but I have been thinking about changing it, maybe to the personalised google home page or google reader or something. I've always had about:blank because it "feels" like the browser loads faster - even though my first step is almost always the same.

I've used about:blank as long as I can rememmber using the Internet. The web browser is one app that I generally just leave open all the time anyway.

With reader, calender, notebook, gmail, dictionary and weather. I used to be an about:blanker worried about startup time, but since Google is lightning quick, and all my web browsing is done through one of the above services anyway, it suits me fine. I try never to close the browser as well.

I would be lost without the googs.

Use Firefox and export my Bookmarks page as HTML and point to that.

yeah gumby has a good idea, with all the browsers having google search built into the search bar, and even address bar for ff (im feeling lucky) why would you need the google home page, unless you wanted to change to images or news, but then, just set images or news as the home page.

So like I thought, most people use either Google, Google Personalised, or blank.

Anything that could be done to make such pages better? Like if you use google personalise, do you setup a module with some of your favourites, so that you can access them from any computer? Or you just use the built in RSS modules and Gmail feed?

Because google loads pretty quickly and 'I'm feeling lucky' functions are stupid.

I have the firefox start page which is essentially google - reason it loads fast and I often open a browser to google something so its right there.

However since so many people have mentioned google personalised pages I might go check that out.

I don't get why there's so much about:blank .. why not just have it load *SOMETHING* that you would use regularly so it saves having to click on it later?

Or if you goto a few favourite sites, open them all in seperate tabs when you fire up your browser in the morning.

I like the google customized page. I said before that I use netvibes and that IS for a reason.. it just has more content by default and is more configurable than the google page. It also loads faster once you have a lot of rss feeds.

about:blank is the fastest to load that's why. That said I still do regularly use the google.

I use the Optus Cable homepage with custom links etc.

So if I want to quickly switch sites I just hit home (obviously his oads super quick) and then hit the link I want. Presto.
