however the new season starts in the UK at some point in the next month.. no idea if hammond is going to be on it initially or not.

5th Gear > Top Gear. At least Tiff doensn't have an orgasm with himself every time he's infont of the camera. Plus he is a million times a better driver than Jeremy & an ex-formula one racer to boot!

My other beef with this tawdry program is the fact they love every Brit car to bits. I can remember one ep they had the (decade old) Ferrari 550/575 comparo with the (newish) Aston Martin. The Aston wouldn't even let the driver downshift when they wanted, had less power, and handled worse than the Fazza, yet they rated it higher? Actually, my other beef is their test track is shyte (an airport ffs with no gradients/character) + always wet/raining.

Altho I did get a good laugh when the curly haired guy re-composed the into theme music with engine noises from various engines :)

You mean Youtube link or lying?

Reckon that guy must have perfect pitch (the ability to recognise an individual note) which is quite rare, about 1 in 1000 I think. From memory he gets tech help/input from one of the Pink Floyd members, and the conversation degenerates into a critique of the inferiority of modern pop LOL!

I realised I gave s*** to Top Gear in my previous post, but this almost makes up for all of Jeremy's annoying mannerisms...tis a Battlefield parody (with appropriate BF vehicles!) with Jeremy's voiceover.

I don't think he has perfect pitch as he mis guessed an F. And I guess if they wanted to pitch correct it, some of the samples were off.

Dunno... unlike everyone else here I've always liked the format of the show and the character. I don't care if Tiff can drive better he's boring. Top Gear segments are much more entertaining.

Top Gear challenges are the best, the one where Jeremy drove the Bugatti (from memory I think it was) while Hamster and James got public transport all the way to Monacco and Jeremy just beat them - as in drove past them as they ran upto the hotel. Also the challenge where James flew back to the UK was gold.

The show is awesome, good format, good presenters and great commentry. Plus their fascination of blowing up caravans wins me over.

I agree with ticman in regards to topgear, but disagree with ticman in regards to farms and farming.

TopGear is not intended to be objective. It's a bunch of guys hanging s*** on each other, cars, the government, and whatever else they can think of.

Fifth Gear is more a technical/factual program, whereas TopGear is more about entertainment.

Basically, Top Gear is awesome.

i've never watched any 5th gear... guys here at work siad it was a bodgy rippoff of top gear so i never bothered. certain sections of top gear i found really boring.. but thier ludicrous challenges are often a laugh. like hammond in some euro 4x4 racing through an icy mountain road versus a guy sky-diving in a glider suit! it didn't prove a thing but it was pretty funny :D the one where they had to make thier own amphibious craft out of road cards was pretty funny also. what makes clarkson & the 2 other dills funny is that they are so incompetant!!

also agree with ticman about the blowng up of caravans... obviously staged but still very funny :D

shooting cars off a cliff face and taking pot shots at them with various armaments including some kind of rpg is hard to top :)

Since my car clocked the same time as an M3, I have liked their track :)

IMHO the only thing it lacks is probably a long(er) straight. That's about it.
