Hey lads, I've created a file server at my old mans business where all docs, print info etc is stored on. I backed up an address book file (contacts.wab) or whateva it was from one of the user machines onto the server. Creating a shortcut on the quick launch bar on everyones pc to the one *.wab file on the server was no probs. However, when an individual opens outlook express and wants to open up the address book through the link found up the top of the window, the shortcut is linked to the default location of the address book on that computer and not the the *.wab on the file server. Is there anyway I can link it to the addy book on the server??
PS: when you open up an address book and click on tools-> Help, there you will find the path to where the *.wab file is stored on that PC, but cannot however change it :/ |

what you need to do, is import the backed up file you have into outlook; File, Import and Export... Once you do this outlook will have a copy of all the addresses and or emails that are in the file, but I'm pretty sure that it will save everything to its own default folder which is located somewhere in documents and settings, but im sure u know where that is as you have backed it up already.

I dunno how to do what you're asking, but I see a possible issue with what you want to do - a .wab file isn't a database server, but you seem to be wanting to use it as one.

For a centralised list of contacts? I heard Exchange might be able to do it.
