For about the past 3 weeks, I've been receiving a large amount of email spam all pertaining to undeliverable mail. At most, I'd send maybe 5 or 6 emails a week, yet I'm getting about 30-40 a day all with the similar heading of being unable to deliver. It appears that these returns that I'm getting are in response to emails that I am some how sending in response to spam that I am receiving (I hope you can all understand that).
I'm with Internode, and they suggested I turn up the level of my spam filter (which I did) yet nothing has changed. I use Thunderbird and fortunatly the Junk filter spares me alot of these, but it's becoming rather annoying. The only other thought I have is I have just started using Windows Live OneCare for my virus/firewall needs, but I can't seem to find any type of email setting that would automatically reply to spam emails. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. |

You realise someone could send a mail-out with your email address? And as a result you would be spammed with replys and bounces?

as gimpy said, or your pc is acting as a zombie and mailing out loads of spam, do some anti-virus and anti-spyware scans, make sure its clean.
Failing that just format c: |

So basically your system (with a decent connection) is a f***ing pot of gold.. just think.. the spammers could get at least 500ppd folding @ home on your rig.

Can anyone recommend me the best anti-spyware program they've used? It doesn't matter even if it needs to be paid for.

gmail's spam is amazingly accurate. i get maybe 1-2 spams a week that slip through. by marking them you help the gmail team filter them even better.

Trend Micro OfficeScan is brilliant. Does virus/spyware/grayware/etc. Hell it even picks up dodgy tracking cookies. Not sure if they have a consumer product that compares though.
