Umm.. Can't quite make up my mind on this one. It's loosely based on 'gen 1' Transformers, the CGI & effects look ok.... but so many damn humans :/

Still, I'm a sucker for anything transformers-related and dare say I'll still end up seeing it on the big screen regardless of if it sucks or not..

At least we get to see them in this one.

My expectations are pretty low after seeing that. The way the whole thing is presented lacks any real character, unlike the cartoons.

It looks more like Independence Day or War of the Worlds, the same old s*** trying to bring these things in to reality. I doubt it will be the sort of film that makes you want to stand up in the cinema and start singing along to "You've got the touch".

Should be ok I reckon.

Its got giant robots, and plenty of explosions, so I'm still interested.

btw/ I do remember the He-Man movie, I went and saw it at the cinemas when it came out. I watched it recently with friends and laughed at it more than anything but I still think Skeletor looked cool in it.

If this is the first of a series of movies I reckon it'll be alright. Of course the 2nd and 3rd movies would be better.

I hope they use the same voices for the transformers as in the old cartoon but i bet they wont. :(

le - They've already gotten Peter Cullen (the original voice of Optimus Prime) to reprise his role & rumours are flying that Frank Welker (megatron) will be joining him... Figure as long as they don't use a Baldwin or two for the voices, we'll be fine ;)

I watched a s***load of transformers when it was the shiz but cause I was young I never knew what the f*** it was all about (never paid attention).

Must say, watching it in high-def (as opposed to in a crappy 20x20 flash window) improves the trailer significantly :)
The 'bots still don't have any apparant personality, but that's kind of due to the fact they don't say anything.. Figure once we get the final trailer that has a some speech etc (if we do), that'll make all the difference.

Not sure if many of you have kept up with the various cartoon series over the last few years (Cybertron, superlink/energon, Armada, Robots in Disguise etc), but all have had kids/humans in them one way or another.. and with a few exceptions, they've been the single worst thing about the series (the kids in Armada being probably the most annoying things since Daniel from the gen1 cartoons). Transformer stories work best when it's just them (ala Beast wars/Beast Machines or the various comics from the last few years) running around doing their thing.

Didn't he fall into a lava pit or something and then get reborn into a more powerful blue megatron that turned into something else? My memory is failing me...but yeh i thought he was cool. He wasted optimus prime he's a badass ;)

Galvatron! He turned into a gun as well, but was more of a stand-alone cannon.

Also, if that is what megatron will look like in the movie then that's f***ed - the robots needs character, that one just looks like lots of metal.

Its a movie not a cartoon. And I watched some transformers just before and it sucked, I dont really want to watch a whole movie of it. Sure its great to remember the characters and s*** but thats about it.

Maybe if I was 5 years old or a big f***en nerd I would like a cartoony transformers.

yep thats how megatron looks but u dont see him until the very end of movie. i really like the designs, if they just copied the cartoons the transformers would have looked like ass.

I like how the cartoons look.

I reckon the new optimus prime looks perfect - he still looks like the original, except updated. They shoulda done them all like that, instead of making them look like alien bugs or something.

I was reading the wikipedia entry for the movie, and it said that because of the bad reaction to those designs for Megatron when they were put on the net, that hes been redesigned a bit. But then, it is wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt I guess.
