I was just sorting out real life s***, busting out the last year of my degree, stuff like that. Had a massive workload over the last few semesters, cos we were working on our final game project and I was Lead Programmer, plus was doing other subjects at the same time. It all paid off in the end though, we took our game to the recent GCAP conference that was held in Brisbane and won "Best Unsigned Independant Game" with it and got mad props. S'all about the mad props.

Got any definete plans on where you're heading now?

There's not too many opportunities for game development in Australia is there?

Yeah man, theres s***loads. Just in Brisbane alone you got Auran, Krome, Pandemic, Creative Assembly, Half Brick, and I think maybe THQ? Then theres Irrational and Micro Forte in Canberra, and a slew of up and comers down in Melbourne (and Atari too I think). If I got my pick, I'd work for Irrational, I really love what they do, but right now I'd be happy working anywhere :P We got a lot of good buzz from the conference though, so I'm hoping that goes part way towards getting a foot in the door.

Highlight of the conference for me was when I met a guy from the US who had been one of the speakers at the conference. I wasn't really sure who he was (we didn't get to go to the actual conference sessions or anything), but he had heard we made a comic book style game, and he was a big fan of comics too, so we were just shooting the s*** and talking about comics and stuff and then we were like "Hey, come over and try our game", so he did, and he really enjoyed it, then he gave me his card and it turned out he was Chris Avellone, Creative Director and one of the founders of Obsidian Entertainment. Awesome s*** :D

Welcome back Khel. I think I can safely say we're all glad the tests came back negative. You gave us quite a scare there little buddy.

You can't get the game yet, we want to clean it up and make it a bit more user friendly before we release it out into the wild (for example, theres currently no key bindings screen, you have to bind keys by editing xml files). Shouldn't take long though, expect it in the next couple of weeks.

There was originally meant to be a website for the game at http://www.digitalpants.net (which I've now ended up turning into my own site), but everyone ended up too busy to actually make it, so it never really eventuated. Hopefully he doesn't mind me posting this, but if you go to http://www.paperpolypixel.com, thats the website for one of the creative leads on the team, and his showreel has some fraps'd gameplay of the game. We haven't really taken a lot of screenshots or made a lot of movies of it or anything, so thats prolly the best example of it atm.

I saw Chris Avellone's seminar on Interactive Storytelling, what a smart guy. Highlight of the conference would have to be the Sony Party, open bar + singstar = yay.

Yeah, I didn't get to go to the Sony party :( We were told it was completely booked out, and then the day after, found out they had been giving away tickets at the registration booth cos of cancellations. If I wasn't so exhausted by that stage, I would have raged, RIGHT THEN AND THERE!
