In a grand show of support for Nintendo's latest console, Wii, Australians have smashed the standing record for most console sales in Australian history at launch.

According to Nintendo Australia's PR honcho, Vispi Bhopti, in the first four days of sale, 32,901 consumers purchased Wii. This means that Wii has officially broken the record for the biggest launch of a video game system in Australian history.

Awsome news, good see Nintendo have managed to regain so much support in Australia again and knocked the crown off Microsoft in the process. It'll be interesting to see how many PS3 units sell when it's launched in Aus, there's no way they'd do 30,000 because either the price or available stock is going to be the killer. It's also worth noting that the PS3 might be delayed even further than March. Only speculation at the moment but one to keep an eye on none the less.

I think you are right Tung. I know for certain that the xbox 360 was, at first, limited in stock and and that they all sold out.

Yeah the price is at least $820 (says wikipedia), the casual gamer is not going to pay that much.

Our store has Wii games to rent now so I'll prolly end up buying one after xmas plus I reckon there'll be heaps of kick-ass party style games getting released for this as well.

Mario Party, wario ware and super smash brothers will be awesome for party games.

It's been reported that the new Smash Bros won't use the Wiimote though, it'll only run on the classic controller. I rekon the new Rampage game will also make for another good party game. Myself and a couple friends use to play 3 player Rampage on the SNES for hours. I'm Hoping they'll stick in some Rampage related minigames aswell.

Keeping smash bros on a classic control (GCN) is the best decision they could have made. This game is near perfection and they know not to try ruin it with a subpar control scheme (Let's face it, the Wiimote is no good for 2d fighters).

Zelda is just owning me at the moment. It is beautiful. The graphics are amazing and I would probably say even better than RE4. I'm 19 hours in and only near entering the 3rd dungeon lol. I've been taking it all in.

I got it and but I haven't started playing it yet. I really want to but I don't want to start it if I know I can only play it for an hour or 2... need to wait til I have a whole day or two free. I started playing Monkey Ball the other night, only played it for a couple of hours and got through 5 of the 8 worlds, it's good though.

I'm at 20 hours, and only just starting the water temple, and I'm sure theres still plenty to go after that cos theres still like 5 hiddens skills I haven't got around to learning. 70 hours might be stretching it, but I think its safe to say theres probably at least 50.

I've prolly spent that extra 8 hours cutting grass. I can't help it, if I see grass I just HAVE to chop at it, I can't bear the thought of missing out on some potential hidden loot. Its become such a problem that even when I have full life and full money, I still have to chop the grass, its like unchopped grass somehow offends me on a base level.

Also, on the topic of wasting time, has anyone else pulled their hair out while trying to learn the third hidden skill? You know the one that lets you circle round behind people and attack their unexposed back? You know the one where you've given blatantly WRONG instructions in game on how to do it? The game kept reminding me how simple it was, like it was somehow suprised that I was so spastic, but every time it reminded me how to do the move it told me the wrong freaking instructions on how to do it. It wasn't till I went and found a guide for the game that I actually found the correct way to do the move and was able to continue. Frustration++

for those wondering about gameplay time. water dungeon is the 3rd one. There are 9 dungeons...It's a pretty big game, especially if you take your time like me lol.

I've just finished the water temple and I'm up to about 16 hours. I want to go and do some side quests now but it certainly feels like there's a lot more to the game yet - which is great!

Like Khel and PHATm, I was at ~19-20 hours last night and was just starting the water temple. Trying to find the hook shot is pissing me off.

I've heard of others getting through the game in 20 hours first go, which is crazy... unless they used a guide.

I keep reading on the net that everyone says the fourth dungeon is something to be seen. Can't wait, hope that's true.

it will be interesting when they actually release a "next gen" console instead of a gamecube with a "next gen" controller

I know, I think I'm losing my edge :( Must be mellowing with age, hell, I'm even considering buying a Mario game after watching videos of Mario Galaxy.

What on earth were you doing?
I just got the 3rd hidden move and simply followed the instructions and it worked fine

It said "Hold to the left or right and press A to dodge around your opponent, then swing your sword in mid-jump to do the move". What it didn't tell you is that you have to hold left or right and press A to dodge, and then while dodging, press A again to roll, and while rolling, THEN swing your sword. I was just dodging and swinging, without going into the roll, and it was driving me bats*** crazy.
