Starforce is some type of copyright protection mainly to stop people pirating the game, the TrackMania games install it when you install the game automatically. It wouldn't be a problem but for some people Starforce has f***ed up some aspects of their computer.

I dunno really - the original Stunts on the old 286 sure was addictive and lots of fun - which all this is pretty much just a remake of. I suppose it's the same as FPS games as they come along. The new FarCry is prolly gonna look pretty nice - but it'll still be just a FPS with an optional hardware upgrade ;)

Each new version will look and sound better with the usual MP stuff with maybe one or two new features. Trackmania isn't much more than just driving around and popping over jumps at insane speeds with the ability to run-up your own tracks thrown in. Hardly game-of-the-year material, but it's a lot of fun if you get into the genre.

The Starforce bangwagon leaves me scratching my head though - (being probably the most pedantic guy here on the forum regarding the state of my pc) if somethings not right it's going to keep me up at night. When hearing of people having problems that I can't replicate myself in the lab, those problems come across as whinging - the majority of this community just isn't made up of people who are able to diagnose their problems like we were in the past. That said - seeing the earlier versions of Starforce isn't something I can note as it just didn't come on any games that grabbed attention. It's been chalked up as the same as any new software - Vista anyone ;)

I remember having to disconnect my optical drives in order to play an ISO of a trackmania game.
