Maybe it is just me, but in every photo or video clip i see of the fiji troops they don't have magazines in their rifles.

Perhaps they just don't have them loaded for safety reasons, but it seems strange.

Check out this pic from SMH

http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2006/12/06/fiji_wideweb__470x321,0.jpg

seems to me like the soldier front is aware he doesn't have a magazine and makes an attempt to conseal it, where as the soldier in the background's rifle clearly has no magazine.

Thoughts?

Guessing its safety reasons. Its not like it takes a lot of time to put a magazine in a rifle and it's a sign of good will that they aren't intending to make this a bloody coup.

Seems to have magazines here, I'm guessing due to where these guys are posted.

Maybe they're such good shots that they only need one in the chamber.

They're secretly using energy weapons cleverly disguised to look like standard weapons without clips attached. That's why he's trying to cover it up.

They certainly wouldn't be in any of my squads in Company of Heroes that's for sure.

It's standard practice in the military (or at least in singapore) to not have live rounds loaded unless there is a very high chance of a hostile situation.

So usually, you'd either have no magazine or just put an empty one in there (prefered).

And yeah, it doesn't take long to load a mag and chamber the first round.

no one really has guns in fiji. They probably could have taken over with no bullets...
