Well getting a tatt can feel f***ing uncomfortable and I could only imagine this being a million times worse. If she doesn't get injected with something for the pain than that's just wrong.

i guess it looks ok, but wouldn't it look like s*** when it heals and she is left with big nasty scars? (unless those top pics are when its healed and I'm wrong) |

i reckon it would fade and be a complete waste of time/pain/money..
i had a skin graft and where they took the skin from looks like that at the moment (big red rectangle, was raw for about 2 weeks) and the doctor tells me it'll take two years to fade, and then it will be slightly paler than normal skin. |

Would it fade?
When I was young and stupid(er) I punched a beer bottle while going through a drunken breakup. One of my knuckles has about a 1cm square scar where the skin was lost. Its very visible today, about 15 years later. |

hogfather, as jazzcat said, the doc reckons that for her donor site for the skin graft - within 2 years it will fade completely and actually end up lighter than the skin around it (but not by much). its still a reasonable pink colour (like the first and second photos) at the moment
so that body art stuff may well be a complete waste ... |

Thats wrong! I mean great design but that can not be worth it can it?
And agrees with above, Ive had alot of scaring and it all ends up lighter than the other skin, but not by much. Whats the point? Get a tat, you can get red ink if thats the look you want! YUCK! |

sorry didnt read that properly hogfather, is it still pink or has it gone a light colour? Nah its definetly not pink, but it would definetly show up especially if it was large-scale scarring like the above. If it was all over me it would be a lot more subtle, but it would definetly be recognisable, especially the edges, and if the person had a good tan. If i remember when I get home I'll take a pic of me wound! Keep in mind too that the skin graft doctor will be deliberately trying to avoid creating long-term scarring, while the - err - scarologist (? :) above is trying to create long-term scarring. Anyway, its still way f***en stupid. Idiots. |

theres not much difference when you are talking about a skin graft donor site though, theres no real way to minimise scarring when you are removing a flap of flesh :)

The top pic and in the bikini are healed, obviously its gonna fade more over time though.
Most of those people get a rush from the pain and (beyond my comprehension) enjoy it... Kinda like piercing addicts and the peeps who do hangings from the hooks through the skin on their backs, just a little more extreme. BTW the actual term for the process is called scarification :) www.bmezine.com has a whole section for it, theres plenty of healed ones in there to have a squiz at, anything with small lines/lettering/detail turns out s*** imo cause of the uneveness of scar tissue. last edited by rubba-chikin at 17:09:50 15/Nov/06 |

Just further proof that the gene pool is seriously in need of some natural selection. Like you would be proud of that mutilation on your back sitting in your cosy at the beach? More like, Hey look at me everyone, man am I a freak or what? They get the same reult I guess, attention.
She could have done it one go with a big arse branding iron and got the same result. last edited by Psycho! at 18:46:33 15/Nov/06 |

Now that guy is a true Misfits fan.
Had a quick scan through the responses on the Body Mod website that the pics are from, and most seemed pretty positive. Shocked but positive. And I would imagine the peeps who frequent this site would have seen their share of crazy s***. Makes you wonder what the general public would think of this guy. Apparently he works in a convenience store in Canada somewhere. I bet he freaks people out when they cruise in looking for Snickers at 3am. |
