Topic: Delay on startup

When I turn my computer on, windows loads up, norton loads, and then it just stops loading up my other startup stuff. Like, the computer isnt ticking over or anything, and I can access windows stuff, but there's like a 2minute delay until my other startup programs load up (MSN, wireless network net connection, etc).

It's really annoying and has only just started to happen recently. Any ideas? And no i'm not going to format, thanks booyah. =)

I never turn mine off either. There's no reason to.

Yep Norton/Symantec software is the real killer and should be avoided.

Read the following benchmark article that shows Norton Internet security taking up about 45% of the start-up time:

Have you installed any other software recently that may run in the back ground?
My system was like that a few weeks ago, and I know you don't want to hear it but a format and reinstall of everything is the best solution.

Same with mine, everything was Milhouse then one day it took like 2 minutes before I could do anything on the pc. Have you found that opening other applications take longer than usual? Winamp, Word documents etc?

I've got Norton on my machine as well, and yes, it takes an eternity to load if I have to reboot. But none of that matters if you never shutdown the machine.

That's because you were whinging about the noise my video card fan was making. That was entirely your fault that happened.

And I'm proud of that fact to this day!

Actually it does. Almost all consumer Norton software is slow and a resource hog.

Norton can arguably affect and slow down your machine more than spyware.
