Just saw an ad for this on SBS, an upcoming movie by Clint Eastwood called Flags of our Fathers - about the battle of Iwo Jima. Official site / apple.com trailer.

The Iwo Jima story is pretty nuts; I've read a good book about it which goes into a lot of detail about how freakin' hard the Japanese fought and how tough it was for the US to take the island. Hopefully the movie tries to keep it real. Trailer looks sort of interesting.

i don;t wanna be judgmental but.... it looks pretty corny. ww2 movies just need gritty action, not love scenes and hugging and s*** like that.

There doesnt seem to be much advertising being done for it, but he's also got Letters from Iwo Jima coming out soon after, telling the Iwo Jima story from the Japanese perspective ..

Wow, two movies about the same thing except from different aspects, seems pretty cool.

yeah I like the sound of this, two movies from different perspectives and the good part is that hopefllly Clint will do the subject matter justice.

it's apparently supposed to be very good, but not a full on war movie, it's apparently about when the soldiers return home too.

apparently the movie contains no black people even though the american forces had african americans serving in iwo jima... awwwwwwwwwww.
