didn't see a thread on this so if anyone's interested this seems pretty kewl;
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,20556847-2,00.html?from=public_rss I'd hold off upgrading your tv, though the skeptic in me suggests that them saying 2007 means really a 2008 release.... |

I cbf editing that post with this s***ty forum so for the lazy the summary is;
better picture than plasma (90% of viewable colour versus 35% for plasma), cheaper, lighter and uses less power. |

Here's a copy of what was on that site so you don't have to deal with that terrible link gone wrong.
8-) IT'S being hailed by its developers as the next revolution in visual technology - a laser television that will make plasma screens obsolete. |

“If you look at any screen today, the colour content is roughly about 30-35 per cent of what the eye can see,” he said. “But for the very first time with a laser TV we'll be able to see 90 per cent of what the eye can see. wait... we'll be able to see 90 per cent of what the eye can see. wtf??? |

It means that according to them, the output capabilities of the tv can reproduce up to 90% of the visual colour information that our eyes can process.
Looks like interesting tech, depending on how it actually performs it might be enough to move me away from crt. |
