Topic: Subway - new Southern Glazed chicken

I think it's been out for a little while but it's the newest sub on their menu.

Bland, tasteless and ass are just a few of the words I've used to describe this. I hate how they make the picture look totally awesome but when it comes time to eating the thing it tastes nothing like you thought it would. Subway owned me when I decided to buy 2 footlongs, both of them the new chicken. On one I got the glazed chicken sauce and the other the fail-safe southwest sauce which you can't go wrong with. Both were toasted also. On another note never get the Spicy Italian sub toasted. The salami and pepperoni cooks like bacon and turns into an oily mess.

So anyway, I went with the glazed chicken first because if that one tasted like ass at least I'd have the southwest one to fall back on. Suspicions confirmed - the glazed one did taste like complete ass. I suspect it was the sauce, which seemed to be a cross between BBQ and sweet chilli. I've never really been a fan of BBQ sauce in the first place and by looking at the picture on the menu I should have realised it might be sorta like it but wtf, it's only money. So after a few bites the glazed chicken one was tossed into the bin with great force and great disgust.

f*** I'm glad I bought the southwest one as a back-up. Wrong nigga!! Even though it had the awesome southwest sauce on it, it still managed to taste like complete ass. Normally you can't go wrong with chicken, except for the random grissly bits thru them, but generally they're ok. But in this case it's the chicken. There's no taste in it. It's not like the old satay one that actually had flavour to it before anything was added to the sub. It has nothing! It reminded me of eating a piece of bread that's been rolled up in your fingers so it's got that real doughy sickening taste to it.

So in summary. Bin 2 - me 0

Checkmate Mr Tramapoline Homer would say.

I tried one on Saturday, don't think I'll get one again. I didn't think it was that bad but there are better subs i can get with my money.

Go with the chicken parmigana if they have it. Not all stores carry it. But you can't go wrong. It's the chicken fillet with parmigana sauce and mozzarella cheese :D

This is the best sub:

Chicken and bacon ranch with marinara sauce on before they toast it, then southwest sauce after they toast it, and your choice of salads of course.

Guarantee u - can't be beaten.

Had a southern glazed thing today. Really didn't mind it. Had the glaze + a bit of mayonnaise.

Also, what's your ultimate sub? I get stuck into the same routine, rarely diverging from the chicken fillet (and satay chicken when it was out, bring it back).

another vote for chicken fillet - untoasted with your salads, thousand island dressing and honey mustard. sounds funny but tastes great

I'd hardly call it a chicken fillet.

More like a mashed up chicken leftovers pattie.

yeh toasting is s*** for realzzzz

had the southern glazed chicken on saturday. it was ok. i certainly didnt feel like throwing it at (in!?!) the bin like you rev. all subway tastes good imo. as long as its some wacky seafood sub with poo sauce or something, I find it pretty hard to not enjoy pretty much all sub combos.
