This man's speeches are truly captivating and inspiring on so many levels. If you have not heard a speech by Keith Olbermann before, I implore you to do so now:
Google Link And now I want to know why these sorts of men aren't in politics and running our countries. The answer is of course obvious: anyone with real intelligence doesn't want to set foot anywhere near politics. So idiots control us and we sit back and take it. Why? Why isn't life better? Why aren't we making great strides in our education, our culture, our habits and our general living? Why are our governments full of people interested only in furthering their careers and not people with a genuine interest in serving their countries for the better good of humanity and our environment? It seems a sad and obvious truth, so the question is, what can we do about it? |

Very interesting piece.. Both for the words spoken and for the fact that it was obiviously broadcast(us censorship and all that rubbish).... Now i'd hate to be a cynic and say it was a stunt by bush and he'll spin it some way or another but the single point i took from it was the absolute disgust the reporter had for the ability of the bush administration to use 9/11 as a tool in their toolbox... whip it out and the public will be automatically on their side etc etc etc.. At least the reporter made sure that will not always be the case, i hope...
Very good piece of well thought out journalism... |

yeah that was pretty good, a bit too polished for my liking. My single best speaker is still blair, he seriously has some of the best speach writers in the world, some of his speaches on climate warming are amazing.
Sadly though he cant practice what he preaches, he blocked a wind turbine from being installed near his own holiday home in england. |

I watched the lateline interview with Paul Keating earlier this week (transcript + video). Checkout the 2nd half where discussing super. The last question is the following:
TONY JONES: One final question - why do you think it was that no one in Federal Labor today seems able to articulate as clearly as you just did these kind of political messages? Of course, he avoids that question. But the rest of it made me think. No wonder the ALP keeps losing, they don't seem to have anyone of that calibur, they can't even convincingly articulate their policies to themselves. I was also impressed with Blair. His regularly televised meetings with normal people, where they ask him questions (not on notice) about pretty much anything, showed him to know his stuff, believe in what he was doing, and not to be as closeted by his PR people and spin doctors as you may think (though obviously speaking candidly with electors live on tv was a PR plan to counter the claims of spin, but because of the person he really is it seemed to work). last edited by natslovR at 14:09:11 16/Sep/06 |

Sadly though he cant practice what he preaches, he blocked a wind turbine from being installed near his own holiday home in england. politics are a funny thing. I'll see if I can dig up some piccies of the wind turbines over my back fence. 3 out of the 5 are often locked-down as they're producing more power than can be currently stored. :/ |
