Anyone have any idea of how to set Adobe Reader 7 to not open PDFs in browser??
Does not appear to be stored in registry. I need to do this for about 80 computers. Thanks. |

change your browser settings, should be somewhere in handled file types etc depending which browser you are working with

It's browser settings, not adobe settings. For example, in firefox, tools -> options -> downloads -> download actions -> view & edit actions. Googling browser name + mime types should return some helpful results.

In the UI, the easiest way to do it is via Acrobat itself, in its Preferences.
By looking at a RegMon trace of what happens when you change the option, you get an idea of what you need to do. If you remove the following key (which stores the MIME association for PDF that IE uses), you should get the desired effect: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/pdf Note that early versions of Acrobat 7.0 had some serious bugs when running as a helper application in IE, which I'm guessing is why you're resorting to removing it. The latest version of Reader 7 doesn't have the problems that the early versions did (such as PDFs not opening properly etc.) |

I've had issues with Craprobat Reader 7.0 since it released crashing firefox when trying to auto open any PDF. Bout time I actually changed the browser settings.
Out of curosity anyone else experiencing this? |

why must everyone look at things the hard way? :p that *is* the hard way if you have to update 80 computers (see original post); much easier to batch run a registry script. |
