Anyone else hear a heap of sirens and a helicopter around St Lucia this morning?

I'm used to hearing sirens from fire trucks heading up to the Uni (they must have lots of false alarms), but this morning there was alot more than usual. Then I'm pretty sure I heard a helicopter too. Maybe there was a real emergency at the uni this time?

Ofcourse I could have been dreaming the whole time, but I'm pretty sure it was real :)

Yeah, I just heard something on the radio about it - something did actually happen. Wasn't really listening tho, sorry.

Apparently a teenager plowed his car into a tree or something. Thats all I heard on the news on the way to work.

Not sure if it was related but it was in the same area.

Talking of randomly not cool as i was walking across the good will bridge yesterday an old man stopped me and asked if i lived at kanagaroo point to which i replied no and asked him why he asked me.

He goes: "because there was a drug bust there yesterday".

I'm like: "so why are you randomly asking me?"

he said: "cause you look indonesian/afghanistani"

I go: "i dont know wtf you on about cause i'm neither"

so he said: "but if you go passed there give em the big flop".... and does a clicking thing with his fingers and walked away.

LOL WTFRANK true story.

Booyah.

Randomly wierd AND:
Looking at moving to Kangaroo point, and a dicussion with my dad this morning resulted in him telling me he lived there when going to uni (back in the day) and his place was raided twice in a 6 month period on drug busts (wrong house though, was meant to be the place next door.)

Anyway maybe theres just somoething about kangaroo point, seeing as these little encounters were over 20 years ago.

Wierd.

I don't drive that way into uni but one of the guys here thought it was a movie set because there were that many cameras and the car looked so bad.

The only details I have so far is that the victim was a 17 year old male who crashed into a tree along Sir Fred Schonell Dve.

yes and no doob, i could easily get up to 120kmh in my old corolla. thats enough to kill yourself by running into a pole.

but then again, it felt like you were doing 160 cos it would shake around and carry on at such a speed. Thats 4000rpm in 5th at 120kmh.

Mr Hardware with from your experience and age i would feel a helluva lot safer doing those sort of speeds in your corolla than in the passanger seat of an rx7 with a 17y/o behind the wheel. Aside from that, with all the lights/bends/traffic on that road im thinking you would need a fair bit of power to do that kind of damage??

This sort of thing makes me a bit sad, you just know the kids parents would probably have been against him getting that kind of car and its all just so tragic. Im not really a big fan of the age/power restrictions but it's accidents like this that really just make it feel like there isn't much of an alternative to preventing this sort of thing from happening.

then again who knows maybe the kid was drunk off his tits
