I don't suggest getting one of these. THe are built in with a certain number that is constantly broadcasting your position, speed and even type of car to ASIO.

Ive used a car with one in it and its f***ing useless. Get a refidex up you... if you cant navigate easily after a quick glance at a map you shouldnt be driving!

I'd like to know more about these too!

My uncle just bought a little USB one with software for like US$100 - the downside is you have to plug it into your laptop, but it does all the talking stuff so it's really cheap and effective.

I run software + BT gps on my PPC phone. So most of the time it's not doing anything, then if i want to go somewhere i don't know i just turn on the gps and fire up tomtom.

Been playing a lot with GoogleEarth and GPS too, which i guess is the advantage of the PDA approach over one of these only-navigation type things.

My last car had the factory one and even that was really good, I actually missed it when I get my current car and didn't option it. monaro there's apparently an easy hack for the navmans which makes it pretty simple to make them really useful for running third party software like oziexplorer etc - not sure about the other brands

What Mapping Software are you using with it?

I have Garmin City Navigator on mine. It's pretty decent but could be better... Has all road maps but very limited off road/ forrestry tracks.

Ninja Edit: Also, Does anyone have any Decent Marine Maps for GPS Units?
Mines portable so it would be nice to be able to take on the Boat for which we currently rely on Charts....

You change cars as often as Khel changes his underware.

the funny thing is I don't actually know whether you're implying I change cars often, or rarely ;)

^^ I was thinking that too ^^

Scooter--> The guys who installed the Eclipse chucked on a Whereis Navigation DVD, it says on the DVD cover: Map For Eclipse Navigation System. I don't mind it, it's pretty sweet but doesn't show red light cameras, restaurants etc... I think it must be an option in the setup somewhere, i have yet to read the manual.

The thing I love about this puppy is that it's a 2 in 1. So it's a Nav system plus a media player.. So I can listen to mp3's/wma's, Watch DVD movies (picture and sound quality is brilliant), and I can also listen to radio/mp3's while navigating etc etc.. Very very cool unit but for a cool price.. The mp3 GUI (graphical user interface) could have been done better and with more options, but like I said I still gotta read the manual.. But I'm very impressed regardless..I will post some piccies soon.
