Hi ppl, Just got a problem with this modem/router. My ISP is OPTUS and it's been working rock solid for months, suddenly this morning there was no connection.
On inspection it seems I still have a ADSL link (confirmed ADSL service is still good, plugged in old speedstream modem and that works fine) but the authentication process seems to fail (Just sits on Initialising LCP).
The router still works fine e.g can login change settings, wireless link is up, can perform firmware upgrade ect..... but for some reason I cannot get it to authenticate the user via PPPoE or PPPoA. It's like OPTUS have banned my MAC address or something......

Any help would be appreciated.

Some router details below.

Netgear Support Line 1800 787 638.

Optus might be doing some server upgrades/maintainence?

have you tried setting the router to bridged mode and authenticating through XP's ppoe wizard?

Thanks for the help ppl still have not solved the problem yet. I'm going to test on another adsl connection tomorrow. It's just strange that the slipstream modem works fine but not the netgear one.

Trying this now, fark how do you set bridge mode in this router?

noticed that a couple of problems with that router were solved simply by going back to "Setup Wizard" and automatically detecting settings

give it a whirl if you're stuck - even if you think you got all the settings right manually (i know i did)
