Its fairly straight forward. You'll need the iPod Updater software tho and make sure the theme u choose is made for that ipod firmware version only coz they screw around image indexes and stuff between versions.

Actually ... you don't need the iPod updater software. You can do it directly to the firmware (confirm with a 5G atleast).. infact ... I couldn't get the updater method to work for me with my 5th gen.

yeh same I just edit the ipod firmware (also a 5G). Also some themes have the title bar as picture 234 or something while the others have it as 228? I get the 228 ones to work on my ipod but not the other ones. (if you get what i mean)

Yeah there is different versions of the theme 1.0, 1.1 and 1.1.1 ... the new software (1.2) uses 1.1 themes ....
And there is program to convert them, there is also a thread for the 1.1 themes. What I did is copied the original theme out of my firmware and did a quick comparison to make sure the new theme was gunna make sense. Forgot to mention .. to check it I was just comparing 3 images, 330, 56 and 88 with what I extracted from my original firmware. |
