Monday nights, 10.30pm on SBS. Pretty much what the subject says.
They are the first televised human dissections by artist/Dr Gunther von Hagen. Same guy that invented the plastination technique and creates the human artworks - rather controversial, you might remember the pregnant lady or the man on the horse.

Anyway very interesting stuff, last week was a documentary just on von Hagen and his history, current empire etc, and now the anatomy series is on. Worth a look.

Couple of linkies for you...

I watched a bit of this last night and it was HARDCORE. It would be creepy enough without Dr Gunther, arguably one of the spookiest looking dudes on television, but the effect is somewhat multiplied when you see him slicing up a vertical cadaver with a scalpel.

It looked really interesting but I was exhausted so couldn't watch it all; will be making an effort next week though.

yeh watched a bit of it last night, seen it all before..but interesting non the less. I did notice a few 'squeemish' looks from a couple audience members though. I want them to have a live female model next time... :)

The girl who was doing the anatomical drawings on the live model was very talented.

^ Last week was even creepier, in his Chinese body factory, surrounded by his little minions working like production lines.

interesting s***. Call me a layman if you must but I didn't know that most of the movement in the hand comes from muscles in the upper forearm. The scraping of steel on bone was a little disturbing for me. Next week is the intestinal track sounds cool.

I work part-time for 6-8hrs a week in the Anatomy labs at UQ as a prosector (who prepares specimens for undergrad students anatomy classes). It's a sweet deal and get paid crap loads for it. Last nights show was pretty cool, even though I see the stuff most weeks. That dude is a freakin gun at dissecting.

^ Sounds like a fairly accurate assumption.

Being an art student Ive got alot of media articles from when the works were first made public, alot of people were very unhappy with the whole concept.
