My mate just popped on msn and reckons he went through a random drug test and RBT. Though was only tested by RBT... anyways point of the thread is "is random roadside drug tests even in queensland yet?"

Hopefully they'd only do the drug test if you seem like you're on drugs. In my case then I'm f***ed, my eyes are always red and I constantly look stoned :( (though I'm not)

My understanding is, while it was in use in Vic, the closest we have come here is the police employing doctors to assess people and decide whether they should be blood tested...

So long as the tests only picked up the substances while still active (say 4 - 6 hours for pot... probably 24+ hours for all your psycs and amphetamine type things), I am all for it.

Bet this isn't the case though... even urine tests pick up THC sometimes upto 15 - 18 days later, let alone if blood work gets involved.

I think VIC had some sort of swab, but like the RBT, it's just a prelim step right? After that they, it's full testing that reveals everything 100%.

What would be the point of that? It is only against the law to be under the influence of drugs if you are driving (and a number of other things I am sure that require you to be straight for the safety of others) so wouldn't they only care if you are driving while f***ed up rather than driving when you had a cone or two the day before?

afaik it's not illegal to have traces of drugs in your system. I didn't think it was illegal to be on them though they might lock you up for disorder or something. Obviously illegal to posess, buy, sell, traffic etc.

but that's all just what I thought, mebbe a lawyer/law student type could clear that up.

I'd want some sort of guarantee their s*** is all sterile and they're not swabbing me with some month old swab giving me f***ing hepatitis, administered by a qualified medical practitioner and not some dumass coppa who has been half trained to read some computer printout.
