Thinking about buying an iPod.
What accessories have you found invaluable/needed. Any experience with ipods in the car ? FM wireless modulators ? FM wired injectors ? Head units with ipod inputs ? The lack of large capacity mp3 players makes me sad in the pants. |

don't listen to the pokemon fan
I've got the FM thing, it's good for long trips but not really for driving around the city unless you want to leave it sitting in the car for some bogan to smash your window and steal. Haven't really found any essential accessories apart from a protector case thingy. But I did get the photo attachment so I could transfer photos from digital to the ipod when travelling |

I find it funny how people cant live without music. They cant just sit there and ponder slightly. Theres something wrong with society.

i got an alpine headunit last year for my car which has an ipod dock connector - works pretty good, controls everything from the headunit so the ipod is tucked away in the glove box. the only thing i dont like about it is that the headunit uses a glide touch to scroll through the lists but doesnt work as well as it shoud. there are other better implementations of it but if you can get the ipod adaptor for any alpine or pioneer headunit anyways.
the harmen karden unit looks pretty good here. it connects via fm but goes directly into your headunit so works alot better than the iTrip type tuners. |

Mooby ... (why dont you buy a GOOD mp3 (wma, divx..ect) player?) ... name a good player with storage over 50gig ... preferably 100gig and I will .... oh wait they don't exist. The only I found over 60gig was the x-clef hd 500 and after reading up on it in foreign languages (ugh) the play list support is limited (100 songs max no random), it has a cap on the max number of files, random isn't random and doesn't work on play lists at all, and you can't search for file other then by "file name begins with" and no *'s and it doesn't support DRM WMAs (new firmware does support OGG and flac tho)... but I could pay almost as much and buy an 20gig iriver .... storage space ftw!
Crizane and hashy .. your cool monkey majik yeah I am trying to avoid the 'wireless' fm transmitter been looking at things like this and this (ie. wired FM modulators. My car has a source unit made by clarion but I can't find bugger all info about connecting an aux unit or ipod unit to it, becuase they don't even claim to make it (as its made under licence to Suzuki) Camel I agree the HK Drive + play looks uber... and if I find a local installer I might do it. That said I could just do a similar job myself (without a remote) for around $80... BZPro ... mp3 head units ... cool idea except you still have to carry lots of cds or if you get a dvd head unit lots of dvds. |

yeah i got a new car stereo about six months ago and had to settle for a mp3 disc player. i thought they would have had models out with a usb slot or input for an ipod but none existed without using an adapter it seemd.

I find it funny how people cant live without music. They cant just sit there and ponder slightly. Theres something wrong with society. your parents didn't beat you enough :P **back on subject** the only accessory (sp) I'm still hunting down is the wetsuit-material arm-band holder. Apparently KMart sells 3rd party ones that rock over the generic 'Apple' ones, but I've yet to get more details. Jogging + iPod = sucks until I get this sorted.. |

jogging with your ipod is a surefire way to kill it. if you want to jog with a music player, buy a solid state memory type, not a hard disk type with spinning parts.

I find it funny how people cant live without music. They cant just sit there and ponder slightly. Theres something wrong with society. Maybe we're just not as boring as you.. Umm instead of going for an ipod and look like every other hippy out there, if you can get a mobile phone player with mp3 player.. Therefore your not carrying around 2 devices everywhere you go (mobile and mp3 playa :/ ).. i recommend: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=global&lc=en&ver=4001&template=pp1_1_1&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10376 |

the annoying thing with having phone + mp3 player on the same device is the mp3 part of it uses up too much battery not leaving enough phone time
