After spending the entire of yesterday, disconnected, I finally found time to call optus to sus out just double you tea eff mate was happening with my internets.

I am on an unlimted cable plan, which as far as I can see in any of their documentation, is quantified monthly. That means, in 1 month, I am allowed 12gb during on-peak, and 24gb in offpeak to download/upload to my hearts content. Upon reaching these limits, I of course, get throttled.

Apparently, I am not allowed to upload more than 500mb a day? Which I will admit I was doing... I cant find anywhere where this is documented.

Halp. ps: I just re-read that, and none of it made sense. GL til i get coffee.

If you are doing it on a daily basis they may suspect you are operating as a server which afaik was a breach of their rules... *shrug*

It's in the aup unfortunately, but alot of it depends on your node. Atleast now you have a number to work with in the future.

i'm on optus cable... but the 7gb/14gb off peak dealie & i definitely upload more than 500mb in a day at times... & so we should be able to! optus cable doesn't charge for uploads... but they prolly have some acceptable use policy bs.

a mate is on the unlimited plan n i remember him saying suhn about getting an email from optus about breaking thier acceptable use policy coz he left a 4.5gb iso sitting in utorrent for a few days without checking it & it uploaded about 18gb in a few days :P

casa, the rule of thumb is 7gb/week. i have been disconnected before and they say as long as you stay below that limit you will be fine.

i was suspended in december and haven't been suspended since using that limit in my net limiter.

500mb is a joke!

They actually don't specify the value. They just say that you can't do anything that places 'unfair burden on the network' or somehting like that - something very vague and such that if they wanted they could say '2MB is too much, off with you'.
