this isnt a cry for help, just a heads up
usually i read reviews n stuff before i buy it but i didnt have time. so when i got some new pc parts; XP4200dual core, antec sonata II case and albatron k8sli MB i went into it just going on price. I knew this wasnt a smart thing to do but i needed the pc to work right away. Problems: -anyway the case's p/s was a dud, didnt work from the word go, nearly killed my power supply tester too. however, this can happened from time to time, ive worked with alot of antec stuff and can highly recommend them. - mb was missing IDE, Sata cable's, port cover, Bios saver card and SLi card. i have a feeling it was a board that was returned already and reshelved. going of a hunch. you know. the only time its stable is during post boot and bios. the minute you try to do anything like oh say, install windows it gets to a random point during post installation and powers down the pc. its suffering from congestive m/b faliure too. it increasingly needs to be started several times to get to post, instead of going to the screen where it shows albatrons credentials. i sometimes get this screen confused with a blank screen cause they look so similar. i usually purchase moderate quality parts and put up with the headaches and spend hours and hours apon hours wasting my time flashing bios's reconfiging and so on to fix manufacturer errors. but im kinda sick of it, i cant count the number of times ive had to fix new pc's. interestingly enough out of all my previous systems, the only one that hasnt caused a headache was my last intel P4, worked straigh up, no drama's. stable as hell. all my AMD base pc's eat s*** in terms of getting them to work. now Amd's are good chip's, i guess i just got the wrong m/b's which means ive got somthing bad to say about a few brand's now, including albatron. I've tested diferent running environments, bios settings, hardware configs and i know that the install issue is caused by the motherboard. Instead of trying to fix it, im going to demand my money back, f*** that. im not gonna play the waiting-to-be-fixed game either. spend hundreds of dollars on cheap, ill engineered s***, no thanks. Can anyone recommend me a motherboard for the AMD, i only got a radeon X700pro atm but im looking to get a new pair of graphics cards soon, so SLi support would be preferred. performance is a plus, but im just after somthing that works straight up and is stable for once so i can enjoy my new CPU. |

Sorry to hear about this dude. Personally, I wouldn't touch an Albatron product ever, having read alot of bad stuff and knowing a few people that have had issues with their stuff.
I'm not sure of the actual model of mobo's, but Abit and Asus ones have always been good to me. I'm still using an Abit mobo with a 2800XP athlon chip. Been going strong for years. |

You often hear bad things about certain brands and then they'll work fine for some people and always be crap for others. Sucks hey! |

From what I have seen the albatron motherboards are pretty poor and I would personally avoid them. However their videocards are up there with the best, they have a very low failure rate compared to some of the other brands and the performance is pretty much on par with the more exxy cards.
Recommendation on a s939 board I would have to say A8N-SLI it is by far the most popular gamers based board we've been selling at my work. I infact use one myself, my only gripe with it is the chipset fan which spins at 5000 odd rpm and is annoying. If I was doing it again I'd probably pay the little bit extra for a heatpipe one, that said the base model is also now rather cheap so if you changed the chipset fan to a big passive zalman (like this for $7) I think you'd be onto a winner. |

Good motherboards but bad graphics cards. I guess it's not too fair to generalise like that since we are both right and wrong to some extent. |

i got it from U-mart, brought it all back, they replaced the power supply and i got a new gigabyte mobo, its all working sweet so far.
U-marts usually ok. i dont blame them for the s***ty board, just the p/s seemed like it was already used and broken (warranty sticker was broken too) and the m/b was faulty, the box was worn and was missing like, everything. it was a pretty big waste of time, not too happy. albatrons as far as the new gf video cards go, from what i can see are mostly relabled ref cards. :/ |

Did they actualy say anything about the power supply being used/broken? Thats pretty dodgy IMO reselling stuff with a broken warranty sticker without being upfront about it in the first place.

its all good now, the gigabytes goin hard. K8N pro-sli ftw.
they didnt really say much about the faulty hardware because it kinda speaks for itself. im shure it was a mix up on their behalf and im just glad its all sorted now. jmr: eat s***. |
