Strik3r, no offence but you might want to know what you're talking about before going on about crap like that.
A Java binary is no different to a win32 exe, linux ELF, or anything inbetween. The difference is how it is used - with a VM. Solaris (and the UltraSPARC) are designed for running this code natively, ie, it's virtually as though there's no VM in between (there is, but it doesn't do much). USD100,000 for this thing though? With 48 cores? f*** THAT! I can get an 8-core (four native threads per core) 1.2GHz UltraSPARC T1 with a few GB of RAM and a few HDDs for USD8k, or a 1.1GHz 6 core T1 with I think it's 2GB RAM and 2x SCSI HDDs for USD3,995. The latter I'm actually tempted to do - for personal use. |
