sup i got a new logitech mouse, im not sure of the model name, its got all cool contoury looking things on the plastic but, and its red. its new.

anyways, with my old mx500, id install the software and it would popup saying mx500 detected on usb port bla bla

but now it says.. unknown pointing device! and when i try to configure all my buttons its just got the lame standard 2buton ball mouse there, i cant pick mine!

any ideas? iv got the most up to date drives, i rebooted when the installation told me to. iv uninstalled /reinstalled like 3 tiems, still no difference.. so frustrating.

Smash it against a wall - three times, and three times only.

Sometimes windows will let you use the other buttons in applications and games, but in your case you seem to want to customise the buttons. To do this you need the Logitech Drivers (Setpoint or Mouseware). Get them here

^^
That's assuming your mouse is this one

try a different usb port/controller, failing that try the mouse on a different machine. shouldnt need any extra drivers to detect it. if detection continues to fail it could be a faulty mouse? good luck anyway.
