Topic: Things to do around Stanthorpe

Me and some friends are going to stay at my uncles vineyard near Stanthorpe this weekend.

Whilst I've been to the vineyard itself many a times I haven't really done anything else in the area.

Anybody got suggestions? I was thinking maybe a hike in Giraween national park? Can anyone recommend one in particular?

And what else is there to do in the area....besides the obivous visit vineyards?

The Pyramids (in Girraween) is a *really* good climb. If your into a light-ish walk with a few 'little' up hill bits I'd really suggest it. Takes half the day probably. Decent Picnic spot to be before/after the walk too.
Turtle Rock is good, starting near the same place as The Pyramids walk.

Bald Rock pretty decent too. But a little drive from the Girraween walks.

Some different places you can go 4Wding if your into that ^^

and the last thing you need when you spend so much time checking yourself out in a mirror and showing other guys how pumped you are, is to be thought of as gay eh

Theres some good winery tours around there, the girl and I went there for our 1 year - went to maybe 3-4 winerys and were drunk by then! If ya dont wanna get drunk spit out the tasting! There is also a few non-alcoholic places. There was an apple place that had AWESOME apple juice! OMG it was good. There was a fudge place, and a body-shop type place.
We also got alcohol and got drunk!

What sort of rookie do you take me for? I'm an old winebibber from way back when.

No fourby, but thanks for the suggestion.

Was thinking of this, but only got one full day there (Saturday evening till Monday midday), so can probably entertain ourselves I think.

Hey Hunter you wanna come to a winery? I'll take one for the QGL team.
jk btw.

Yes. Me, a bloke mate and two chicks are gonna get our homo funk right on.

Like I said I have been there plenty of times before, I'm more than familiar with what one does at a winery...I'd be more than happy to sit on my ass drinking the good nectar all day and all night but I don't think my guests would find that as appealing as I do.

Goto my uncles vineyard/resturant!

Whisky Gully Wines/Beverley Vineyard and Resturant
The Republic Red is recommended.

The Bramble Patch is good for some of the best fresh made berry ice-cream around. As well as liquers and toppings.

Have you ever been to the area and are you older than 15...and not some little emo c*********?

Will do.

Also the Bramble Patch is just down the road from my uncles vinyard....used to love going there as a fat little kid.

OK fair enough....but that's not exactly what the area is all about. From what I have heard about the apple and grape festival it is basically a B & S....which isn't necessarily a bad thing....but not what you go to that area for normally. And yes, Stanthorpe itself is a s***hole...kind of reminds me of Gympie and Ipswitch and Mackay and Adelaide all put together.....and with probably the same tooth per head ratio too.

You go to the area to drink wine in very nice surroundings and to get down and jiggy with nature.

p.s I mean no offence unless the answer to this question is yes in which case I mean all the offence I possibly can, but is your band a little emo c********* band?

My friend has a theory that emo dudes get all the hot chicks so we wanted to become emo's until we realised it meant you had to dress up like a chick and just be a fag in general (albeit a hot chick rooting fag).

Wine snobs (or people who desperately want to be seen to have developed palete) will argue Queensland doesn't have good wines and will argue that unless you are paying $300 a bottle then you are drinking rubish...

Normal people go with an open mind and frequently find something they'll like.

If nothing else Stanthorpe is cold enough to have real fire places which is always fun.
