We've been given the opportunity to ask 5 questions of id Software about the upcoming Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (for a GA interview). If anyone has any interesting suggestions about what to ask, post ahoy!

"Is this going to be the final nail in the coffin of quake?"
or, if it hasn't been asked yet "Are you going to ignore the community as well?" rephrased to be less of an attack: "How much have you relied on community input for the general structuring of this game?" |

hmm..im not sure if this has been addressed or not, cant remember, but how will the multi player be...i mean in BF2 for example you generally have to play in a team to win and evry one has the same mission. but in QW i read that players on the team can have different missions, how does that work?

What optomisations (if any) does the code cater for... ie..improved networking, dual core cpu's, SLI configurations? (HDR lighting and stuff?)

How long will this game be able to hold my attention?
Is this another game that has great graphics and crap gameplay? Can I have a free copy? because games are overpriced and mostly garbage, for every 1 good game there is about 1000000000000000000000000000 really crap ones How does this game compare to a Giraffe? |

What will the support for clans be like? EA's BF2 hyped huge clan-based portals including a clan insignia which could be worn on the player's model, as well as team-management from within the game itself - but none was included in the final release. Are there any plans to support and nurture clans within ET:QW?

How long will this game be able to hold my attention?Quoted for truth. The FPS genre is oversaturated and boring. I hope ET:QW is worht the wait. |

Q: "Why are we asking id Software questions when the developers at Splash Damage are supposedly the ones doing the game design related work and would presumably be better suited to answering community related questions?"
I guess another way of putting that would be, in what ways are the core id Software staff affecting developement of Quake Wars besides the obvious engine optimisations. Are they creating maps or models. Do they have creative control over any game balancing details etc or is the role just Doom engine technical support for Splash Damage. I'm seconding dice's community input question because that's the number one reason nobody plays Quake 4 multiplayer. They didn't listen to what the community wanted until it was too late and now no ammount of patching is going to salvage it. |

"How will the gameplay features differentiate this from games in the genre like Battlefield 2, Battlezone 2 & Ut2k4? What's being done to set it apart from the competition in an oversaturated genre?" "Are there any major plans for features in online play, such as rankings and mini-mmorpg gimmicks like earnable weapons? If there are, will these 'features' only be available on special servers?" "Are there any plans to balance the importance of vehicle vs. infantry combat; if so, what?" "If I were to say 'don't release 200 expansion packs and fragment the community and please make hosting servers easier on those who wish to and don't f***ing disbandon the game too hard if it doesnt end up the BF2 killer you're hoping for because not all of us like bf2 and we want something worth playing' would you consider this a question?" "If you could say one sentence to the average f***** BF2 player to get them hyped about this s***, what would it be?" iD software have what it takes to make good games, like obes said, doom/doom2 and quake were all f***en ownage gamesThey were fresh new games from a proven and well-known developer in a fresh new genre with practically no competition, naturally they were good for their time. last edited by Hashy at 12:27:51 11/Apr/06 |

I'd really like to know if it has bots, and if so what is the AI like?
I think bots are a great option for when you want to just play with a couple of mates or get a bit of practice. BF2 was teh gay. No multiplayer bots. |

In the past, iD software has been regarded as a powerhouse of innovation in First person Games. However, recently iD seems to be following the success of other franchises (valve and dice). How does “Quake Wars” attempt to innovate the tactical team based FPS?
“Quake Wars” seems to be directly competing against BattleField 2. What does iD feel makes “Quake Wars” the vastly superior game to Battlefield 2? A percentage of players feel that many of Id softwares games have proven to be over-hyped and didn’t deliver many promises during development. How does iD software feel about this, and how has this attributed to the design of ‘Quake Wars” #edited: avoiding band camp last edited by typo at 18:20:59 11/Apr/06 |

Question to id:
"What can the modding scene look forward to in terms of extending ET:Quake War's capabilities, considering the Doom3 SDK arguably was not accepted with open arms to the same extent and enthusiasm as previous id titles." |
