Clearly you fail to appreciate that:

a) The fact that she is suing somebody is a long way away from winning the law suit. People file law suits for crazy stuff all the time, it doesn't mean they win.

b) Plaintiff lawyers almost always quantify the damages on the high end of what would be considered reasonable. In the US particularly, punitive damages are sought and they are not able to be mathematically determined, so why would they ask for something low? The judge would be less likely to award damages at a level higher than the quantum that both parties have suggested.

Finally, she is suing not only for the dismissal, but probably for the loss of earnings that it caused, and emotional abuse apparently. Clearly the fact that she was unable to fit into her costumes was merely the trigger for some far more serious things, so it is not that far fetched. As somebody else said, 30 minutes with a sewing machine and the production could have saved a lot of heartache.

i'd believe it, theatre is full of backstabbing, ego's and selfish people with prioritys. It's not unreasonable for her to be suing at all as i've seen that side of the industry first hand and its pretty nasty even in australia, let alone over in the US.

Yeah, me too. I went shopping the other day with a friend and she was looking for some new jeans, so she went to try some on in a size 8 but only ended up being a size 6. She's thin but she's not very tall, so she looks in proportion. I know a couple of girls like this. Unlike the girl mentioned in this story though, none of them are naturally bigger than a C cup in the chest area...

Edit: This post was in response to SquarkyD's post. Most girls I know have got a little meat on them though, in a healthy kind of way.
