Please give me your comments/suggestions for the following system from umart. I don't need dvd drives as I already have some I'll use. I don't really know anything about motherboards and videocards so if I've made a bad choice let me know. I don't really play games anymore, but I like having a decent system. Ta.

Looks ok. Even though you said that you don't play games much, I'd still consider getting a 256 Mb card over a 128 mb one.
Tried looking for a mobo that has it's own wireless slot onboard? I've seen some ASUS boards that had that (at least with Socket 478's based boards) ~ no real reason for that though. Also, any particular reason why you chose Samsung as your disc drives? |

looks good but id get a 7600 GT series cards, you also might want to get a sli board so you can drop another 7600 in down the road for future proofing.

Basically an entry level gaming system (what you need to play s*** properly). Looks fine to me. Future proofing is bulls***.

The guy at umart wanted me to get the SLI version of the board, but I don't see how that is useful, because wouldnt it be better just to upgrade the single video card rather than buying a 2nd out-of-date one?
I chose the samsung HDD because it's designed to be quieter (see thread on Page 2 of QGL "hard drives that dont 'tick'") I'm really not keen to spend more than this unless I have really gone wrong somewhere. |

SLI rocks check out the benchmarks and its worth spending extra 50+ dollors. a single 6600GT will barley be payable with 800x600 with new gen games, you be better off getting a single 7800GT or GTX or a x1900, dont waste your moneys. |

a 7800GT costs $500 and a GTX costs $675.
I don't want to pay that much for a video card, especially since they devalue so quickly anyway. I don't mind paying for an expensive monitor. As I said I don't need a top of the line v/card. If I play a game it's usually just quakeworld or counterstrike heh. |
