If this has any shread of truth to it: cool...

If not, why would you even bother going to the effort of making up crap like this. I mean, look at the actual "inventor's" site:

http://www.saferplane.com/stealth

so budget...?

And surely this wouldn't just be under patent, but entirely secret...?

the carriers at more than 20 feet distance are unspottible by insurgents for subsequent I E D targeting

I think if he could invent stealth technology, he could spell properly.

Even if you could cloak optically there's nothing stopping the enemy from using imaging devices that scan non visable spectrums such as IR and Microwave except the cost.

Well I read the first bit of that article and all it talked about was an 80's movie. Regardless of how hard that movie rocked, I don't think a credible article would fail to mention what it is about in the first paragraph.

It's not a fake, it's real. But the technology isn't that exciting. The plastic bag thing suspended on the wire is actually a projector that is casting an image of the grass onto a screen. You can see in the first picture a 'square' of grass, that's a projection. In the second photo he's crouching behind a larger screen, the shadows are visible.

How many times did they want to say "a.k.a this a.k.a that but also a.k.a as this".

^^^^ No Idol. The shadow you refer to in the 2nd image is not the one connected to him in the 1st image. Look again.

I think he walked out of the shot in the 2nd image :p Otherwise, Idol would have been right, you should still see a shadow.

Me too. I'm positively bursting at the seams.

When they make a helicopter invisible I'll be impressed.

I do know there is real technology that makes aircraft invisible to radar. Its different from the US stealth technology as it can be used on any aircraft. We have it, so does one other country, the US doesnt like it cause they spent billions on their version.

The stuff in this thread is more like those images out of Japan a couple of years with people wearing clothes you could see through.

I love how he has come up with some awesome cloaking device but he can't even take clear photos.

Now imagine how awesome his cloak technology would be if he didn't have a camera at all. OMG nothing would be visable!

Won't someone think of the possibilities of this?

aside from a very obvious looking use of the clone brush, yes its gotta be fake. the tech does exist using projection to mask but isnt anywhere a usable state yet.

@ whoop: there are many plants out there that dont bleed and im pretty sure you can kill them. also bacteria and single celled organisms dont bleed.

@ E.T. the easiest way to avoid radar is to fly under a certain height. if you are within so many metres of the ground (cant remember how many bout a 100 i think) radar cant pick you up. easy really.

Clint. The technology I'm talking about lets you fly at any height you want.
Its very cool, it works, and we have it :)

The technology also has some other nice features about it, but this isnt the plaec to talk about it.

Doesn't seem that impossible, since in 2003 Susumu Tachi, Masahiko Inami and Naoki Kawakami used a fixed camera to take images of backgrounds and project onto themselves. So instead of fixed camera have mounted sensors on the person and have displays that show the image instead of a surface to project onto. Whether the technology is available or feasible is another matter.

The overall dodginess of their site and the price they quote for the system seem to be the biggest giveaway that it is dodgy. I find it very hard to beleive that a state of the art military invisiblity system is about 1/5 of the price of a half decent LCD television.

Guessing the first picture he is just holding a picture of the background. The logical progression from transparent lcd screens.
