Looks like Mcs*** has finally had their day, and people are waking up and deciding against actually paying for that crap.
I cant wait till most of their "restaurants" close down. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4759130.stm |

I agree. I hate the huge f*** off signs all over the place. Its easy to choose not to go there, but its so ugly having them everywhere and just promotes having more fat ugly people

Hmmmm, closing 25 out of 1250 in the UK.... not a massive difference I wouldn't have thought.

Do not forget that some Mcdonalds in UK closing as a whole is not going to affect there worldwide business.
If i am correct Mcdonalds.. "McDonald's brand is in 119 countries around the world. 30,000 locations serve nearly 50 million customers each day. More than 70% of McDonald's restaurants around the world are owned and operated by independent local businesspersons". "Revenues for 2004 were US$19.1 billion, with net income at $2.75 billion" Taken from wikipedia.org. I hardly think the closure of 24 outlets spells doom for the mcdonalds corporation. Many large corporations frequently post a net loss every year yet they are still alive. If this was the beginning of the end for mcdonalds, it would honestly take a long time for them to bite the dust. That said, i do think they serve crap as well. |

its just a normal restructuring of a company to better fit the market conditions, its a long way from the end of the big mac.

Agree with nef, and I was under the impression that all Maccas in Briz are franchises... so I doubt it's gonna affect here at all.

Its easy to choose not to go there, but its so ugly having them everywhere and just promotes having more fat ugly peoplePeople are going to get fat with or without the help of McDonalds. I love eating McDonalds, but I realise that foot laden with fat and sugar isn't the best diet unless you're trying to live through an Ice Age, so I eat it sparingly - maybe once every two weeks. |

Some of the new salads plus stuff is quite edible.
There's a couple of things I don't mind about maccas; firstly, you get a decent feed for a low price, and secondly, you know the food has been prepared in a (relatively) hygenic way, compared with buying something from your local kebab shop or even your average restaurant. |

Personally I think the burgers are insultingly small and it all tastes like garbage. I have boycotted this s*** for about 2 years and have never been happier. I think subway, and the occasional fish n chips is the only fast food I eat now.

I'd like to stand up on a soapbox and proclaim how bad they are/how much the food sucks/etc... but realistically, Maccas are convenient and even if the food is the stuff heart attacks are made of, it serves as a decent filler if you can't get home and/or to a "healthy" fast food outlet (because Maccas never seem to close).

It's 3am, you've downed about 10 pints of Kilkenny and followed them up by a handful of whiskeys and your starving.. I'll pick Micky D's over Subway at this particular point in time.

and secondly, you know the food has been prepared in a (relatively) hygenic way Actually, I read something a little while ago and apparently McDonald's are the most hygenic fast food restaurant around. Given that they have a pretty big reputation on stake though (given their status internationally) I can't say I'm particularly surprised though. Also, Macca's is ok, but HJ's is better. |

micky D's will never have anything on Hungry's.
i mean honestly, a hungry jacks cheeseburger would literally eat a mcdonalds cheesburger. heck it would even eat a quarterpounder. |
