on the whole 3 laps I got to do before my radiator exploded, I was all over the place, you can see that from my racing line, look at the last corner! I was getting used to driving my car.
You won't be seeing me at the track for probably a year now anyways, that radiator incident somehow destroyed my bottom end, its rebuild time.

Yeah trackday was one of the worst days of my life, as far as events go, though it didn't really drop my spirit.

Started off that morning, went to get some things checked under the car at my mechanics and accidentally crushed my front bar on the end of the ramp (not too bad).
I then got done by that speed camera on the way at the end of the overtaking lane on the hill crest because the guy I was overtaking put his foot down.
Then my radiator split out on the track, 4 inches across the top, there goes any racing for the day.
We patched it up and the car was running, so after 10 minutes of idle I attempted the trip home. Got maybe a km when I started getting nasty knocking noises and then the radiator cap blew.
Then while I was checking that out the storm came and I got drenched through to my underwear and was then stuck on the side of the road for 2 hours while my tow arrived. After finally getting back to my mechanic it was confirmed my bottom end was definately f***ed.
I won't know more until we drop the engine and take a poke around.

I think I'm cursed everytime I go to trackday something bad happens and each time its gotten worse. I fear next time will result in a written off car after spending 10k on a rebuild etc.

I'm just posting to say that I looked at the photo of you all actually getting outside and engaging in some kind of cool activity, and I experienced several mixed feelings of jealousy, annoyance and self-disgust due to various minor psychological issues I have and decided to direct my negative feelings toward you in a misguided attempt to make myself feel better.

haha, I'm making out that compared to me, you're really uncool

Haha what? I was sliding half the time! :D

It may look slow, but I was hitting about 160 down the front straight. My car is just quiet, so it sounds like I'm going slow :/

Also, mine were recorded with a wireless mini cam mounted on the passenger seat's headrest, so it wasn't DV quality like the others.

going around in cars as weak as maxe's would be about as fun as riding on a tram.

when you got drivers with balls that dont just follow each other around in circles like dodgems and cars that can actually reach 200 down that straight it becomes entertaining

What bragging rights do those of us in almost-stock cars get for beating an R32 GTR? Cos we all did.

Here's some of the times (fastest to slowest):
White R34 GTR 01:06.1
Blue R32 GTST 01:06.8 (nF)
Red RX-7 S5 01:07.3 (JapTastic)
Black WRX My05 STI 01:08.7
Black S13 Silvia 01:09.0 (maxe)
Black 2004 E46 M3 01:09.2
Red EVO IX 01:09.4
Blue Sprinter (T) 01:10.4 (monkeymajik)
Yellow S15 200SX 01:11.5 (me)
White R32 GTST 01:12.5 (Flagger)
Black R32 GTR 01:12.5

Here's a tip: a car is only as good as its driver.

I aint going nowhere, by that I was talking of selling the gtr.

cars are a waste of money when it comes to modifying. look at you, you can barely afford to keep your s15 let alone put some wheels on it. meanwhile I got a house, gtr, s15, and business's to run.

ill be back with a monster car in about a year or two anyway, in that time keep saving for your $1500 exhaust okay?

your GTR probably would be fast if it wasnt driven by a complete s***kunt, but it is, which is probably the reason you suddenly cant find or remember your lap times. Hurry up and sell your car to someone with the balls/talent to drive it how it should be driven, and spend the cash on a subscription to DUB magazine

if you're worried about smashing into a fence again you can get someone with some skill to drive it, under a helmet nobody would even know it wasn't you

hi Im burt. My parents bought me my first car, even tho i insist on criticizing everyone else who got a car under the same circumstances. Soon after I got it, I crashed it into a fence. Because I couldnt pay for it, I got my girlfriend to do it.

Now that I work my unskilled labour job 7 days a week for my Dad, I have the money to get someone else to modifiy my car, simply so I can tell other people on the internet how much faster it is than theirs.

remember the dramas he had with his family when he told them he was buying a gtr with his inheritance from his gradmas death?

hes like you, never had a job in his life, but he will tell you he worked as a mechanic for 5 years to pay for it. haha

his mods and fuel money ran out with the inheritance, hes waiting on the next death now. I guess he hustles it a bit better than yourself though, least he has -some- sort of income... its just not a real reliable one.

HAHAH what a great thread!

LOL 400HP MONSTER!!!!
You actually make it sound cool but 250kw at all 4's is no mean feat. What is he running? A pair of 2535s?
Heh a pair of N1's would be about 30 odd KW shy of that figure on only 14-16psi.

""LOL 400HP MONSTER!!!!
You actually make it sound cool but 250kw at all 4's is no mean feat. What is he running? A pair of 2535s?
Heh a pair of N1's would be about 30 odd KW shy of that figure on only 14-16psi.""

N1's 30odd kw shy of 250awkw? Muahhaahahaha
I can see you know alot about GTR's. You should write a book.

good ole enigma. the king of "i know people that know people" and "ive been in a car" stories.

What is he running? A pair of 2535s

haha... 260kw is with standard turbos at 14psi kiddo. when it had the N1's it would have been pushing near 300kw on 18psi. My next gtr will be 400+ kw though, you will know about that one day.

Now that I work my unskilled labour job 7 days a week for my Dad, I have the money to get someone else to modifiy my car, simply so I can tell other people on the internet how much faster it is than theirs.

There's a guy who doesn't very consistent 1.10's in a stock '88 Integra which would probably have a lower power to weight ratio than your astra!

I love QR, I go out there maybe once a month when my father races his superkart. As much as I'd love to get out on the track in one of them, I'm always banished to the pit working on it when he brings it back in and having to push start some 15 odd karts at the beginning of the races.

For the greatest adrenalin rush at up to 260kph and only 2.5cm off the
ground. SUPERKARTING is probably the closest to open wheeler formula
racing as you’ll get for a faction of the cost.
Unlike the smaller Sprint Karts, these “Pocket Rockets” race at all major
road race circuits in Australia and Overseas. Phillip Island, Eastern Creek,
QLD Raceway. It is a national sport enjoyed by hundreds of people from
all walk’s of life and certainly not reserved for the wealthy.
The 250cc International Superkarts actually hold many of the lap records
at these circuits.

Hahahahahahaha, your entire engine is the size as 1.89 of my cylinders, not even 1/4 of my engine and weighs a mere 200kg more (But only because I have weight reduction stage 9 - y'know, completely rusted out).
I don't need a strapon or have to quote girl sized figures and try to 'big' (lol pun) talk them up to compensate for a small penis engine.

There is no way in hell anybody is legally going to just give you an address from a licence plate for $15.

It's not worth explaining, the security implication as to why is common sense.

You can get plates/VIN + Engine #'s checked for theft, but through REVs or local Police [Roma St.], not QLD Transport.

Video of my 5.5L V8 when it fired up for the (third or fourth ever - I had honors since I built 95% of it myself, 5% was my old man who did electricals which I can't do for s***) time on dumpers.
Features eK holding a fuel leak from spraying over the extractors that I had sprung from mis-storage of my carby and my old man behind the throttle.
Revs in the video never went over 3.5k

loki: did you have to get that modplated?
Loki
Posts: 6532
Location: Brisbane, Queensland
Burgz : No, because my car came factory optioned with that TYPE of engine [and same brakes], I do not need an engineers certificate or any mod plates.
I did however upgrade my brake booster from a 6cyl to an 8cyl.

Needs more traction upfront before the bottleneck is the brakes [i.e. can still lock them up in dry conditions].

If I stuck a newer 5.0L v8 in, it would need to be engineered.

Rear Wheel Traction in the wet is.... interesting... at times, go full guns while going 110 on the freeway and the ass end begins to step out from wheelspin.
In the dry if you give it even the slightest stalling up, she spins the wheels from 0 - 120kph, slight chirp into second then gets traction.

Most of this isn't because it's some 600hp monster, it's due to the fact that my tyres are bordering on illegal tread (I'm actually off tomorrow in hunt of some new rubber for the front to rotate the olds to the back, next fortnight new rears... safety safety safety!).

Heh, in the wet it makes a huge difference (in fact, smaller tyres in the wet are actually better due to weight being distributed over a smaller area = less aquaplaning].

In the dry, new tyres squeel better :P

Mk3 - 13.522 ;) - 14.5 ; Depending on traction and how quick she really is.
She was timeslipped at 14seconds in a heavier VB Commodore (So theoretically should run a touch faster).

Mk3 - I foroet to mention, all I know is, no 1/4 mile times mean anytthing compared to how much fun driving that thing on dumpers was :) If I could, I would drive any car that sounded like that and have it pulling 17 seconds down the 1/4 anyday.

Driving it to the exhaust shop was fun as well, people walking on the footpath would stop and turn around [when you were still well over 150m away :P] and watch you drive past.

nF's car on dumpers sounded pretty horn too :)
I'd drive that around on dumpers ^____^

to a orphan in a 3rd world country thats never seen a car driving a excel would be really fun to drive also, but around here we have means of measuring just how much your car can backup your big mouth, its just a pity you dont have any balls to try it.

Its in the family, in our family we share what we own. But you wouldnt know about that, cause your family dont own nothing!

Your posts are as funny as you getting run off the road trying to overtake on blind corners in your 30hp machine. Remember that boxy? its on video aint it, or dont you want it posted up? HAHAHA!

Its a pity you didnt have a head-on with that truck and get what was coming to you for being such a dumb ass driver, would have been funnier

Firstly It isn't on video.. which is a shame, i'd like to see it again, how i managed to actually get out of that alive... secondly, It wasn't a blind corner and thirdly it wasn't a truck it was a rav4... Plus you wouldn't have been anywhere near the thing anyway since you went off ahead, so you've only 'heard' 2nd hand accounts so basically know s*** f*** all of what happened... but keep kidding yourself

I make no concessions dude, it was the stupidest thing in the world, i said that when it happened and I continue to say that to this day... What can i say, it was in a 121 so any damage incurred from running off road would have been negligible..

But you crashed your car into a fence didn't you??? Wow dude thats pretty f***ing stupid and pricey i'd imagine too

As for the 'in the family' bulls***... That is a cop out you hypocritical piece of s***.. One hand you say 'omg (insert whatever name u like here) YOU DIDNT PAY FOR YOUR CAR YOU ARE A s***KUNT BLAH BLAH BLAH', yet you 'own' a mustang...

Good work dude

hahaha someones a bit ANGSTY this morning

2nd hand accounts? HAHA you were right behind me ya dumbass, I seen you go piloting off into the landscape like the Boxhead(read: Bonehead) you are

Moral of the story? you cant overtake the same in a $50 121 as you can in a 400hp+ gtr, dont try to be me as much as you want to

If i was right behind you then i can't have been going that slowly since you're in your 400hp+ gtr.. I'm having trouble keeping track of this story dude.. Tailor it some more to make your point k?

hang on hold up... this cant be right? I gotta be seeing things

someone on qgl with their own opinion not riding on the bandwagon? well I never...

here I was thinking everyone on qgl was a spineless puss, SCOGGEX just proved me wrong. congrats for being the 1st person in history to have the balls to have your own say around here.

Boxhead; didnt you try overtaking the same truck that I just overtook? difference was I waiting till it was a straight road, and could see there was nothing coming, and didnt feel the need to try morph into mark skaife like yourself. learn2drivenoob.

I was probably the guy your boyfriend turned into when he crashed into the curb trying to be a pro drifter on the street - oh.. not that hes done anything on the street in the last 3 years cause hes all track legit now

Maxe you still got that video where you try reverse parking in town, but cant get it so you just drive off to make yourself look less stupid? hahaha.... good thing your a track expert these days

nF im curious... what seems more gay. Me and Cemax with our own places, and girlfriends, or you and maxe being single, living with your mums still and spending every weekend together with a collection of photos to show for it?
