probably my only real fear (however irrational) is getting accused of assault or rape by a woman, because it's this society's great taboo and even if you get off, the stigma sticks around

that's why I think the penalties aren't harsh enough

I was on the train last week and this school girl got on and was standing pretty close to me which made me feel awkward, even though there was plenty of room around.

I was telling my GF about it and she said "Wow, imagine if she turned around and said you grabbed her arse or touched her up" and I was amazed at how easy it would've taken a train full of people to snot me through the window just because someone made up some lies. Mmmm, yeah, I *completely* agree with u Dice. I don't think by any means she should be allowed to get away with (what I think most ppl can agree is barely) a "slap on the wrist". She had the potential to really destroy the lives of several innocent men, who became the victims of her in a bizarre (uncommon...although not unheard of) twist of events.

What concerns me a *lot* more than false accusations are the number of people that don't report their attacker. Still too many women out there who think it 'just happens' or that some factor (eg alcohol, circumstance) makes it forgiveable and far far too many men who find the concept embarrassing and ergo aren't willing to admit to a sexual assault.

Why doesn't society believe them ... becuase of people like this woman, thats not to say its the only cause for disbelief but its one of them.
