My onboard has s*** itself so i'm looking for a soundcard to replace it. Can you guys tell me what the difference between
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 value 7.1 Sound Card and the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Sound Card apart from $51?

I'm obviously looking at picking it up from umart so are there any others people would recommend (I know its just sound but meh :P)

I have the Audigy 2 zs and it is excellent s/card. I think from memory the value doesnt have near the tech specs of the higher cards. Google for specs to see the difference in performance.

I have the value edition and it does the trick nicely.

That's in stereo though, so I can't really comment on the whole surround shizzle.

I did a bit of research and couldn't see that the zs was worth the extra (at least what I was using it for).

mission - can't say i'll be using it to play surround sound. Just for playing wow and a bit of music through some $50 umart speakers.

I too couldn't see much difference in the specs which is why i thought i'd ask you guys.

If you're only using cheap speakers go the value.

I have mine connected to a hi-fi amp and bose speakers and I can't complain about the card.

it will be perfect for anything you will ever need as long as you arent mixing music off a turn table into your computer.

Why's that?

Yeah, I regularly record samples, mixes etc (well maybe not as regularly as I used to!) and my Soundblaster Live Value is fine. I mean you wouldn't record a studio quality album on it or anything but it does the job for the bedroom DJ.
