Any HDTV experts/enthusiast on here?

I was wondering if anyone has got any PS2 game running in either 720i or 1080i on a HDTV using Component cables?

To my disappointment and shock, the AUS/EU versions of GT4 DO NOT support 1080i. Can anyone confirm?

I mean WHAT THE f***! Do they think we don't have HDTV or something.
f***en a******s.

Also. Using the DVI out on a video card and connecting to the HDMI slot on a HDTV = pure digital signal?
Anyone with experience please comment on this?

Thank you. ^__^

Pal systems dont support HDTV if you got your hands on a ntsc version then it might be possible.

only games ive had running on my ps2 via YcBpR in 576P mode is tekken 5 and Mortal Kombat Deception (both NTSC versions) its up to the game maker to add HDTV support

And HDMI is basicly DVI...

Well one of the major marketing points of GT4 was 1080i mode.
And the yanks have no problem getting GT4 to run in that mode :(

Even though I haven't got it to work in 1080i, the picture quality is still noticable better. Kinda like looking at a BMP (Component) and a compressed JPG (Composite).

the ps2 and the xbox dont support HDTV, even if u purchase the HDTV and component cables u wont get it running on HD.

While it is true that it's not "Real" HD it's still better than 480i.

Here is a list of games that support higher res mode. http://www.hdtvarcade.com/ps2list.htm

The DVI - HDMI cable made pretty much no difference, if anything it forced me to run a lower res. :(

Don't know abuot the PS2 but the Xbox flicked to NTSC mode will display upto 1080i without any problems. Need an example? Chuck on XBMC and set your res to 1080i 16:9 and it displays in 1920x1080..
