Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's girl in the comics before MJ, so I guess they're kinda doing things back to front for the movies. Gwen was eventually killed by the Green Goblin in the comics, but no word on whether anything like that is going to happen in the movie (or if shes even signed for more than one movie).

And really who cares that gwen stacy is in the movie? Unless she shoots fireballs from her breasts or something. Although if they do her death scene from the comics it could be cool.

There bringing her in at the wrong time, in the comics she was around before Peter and MJ started to hook up. Will be interesting how they add her into the story.

Gwen was also Blonde in both spiderman and ultimate spiderman. In ultimate they gave her a total copout death at the hands of a carnage type organism, it's the only thing that's really cheesed me about that series since she was really only just starting to become a decent character.
