I bought my Dad a Teac SDB420 digital tuner. So far channel 9 is the only one we can get on it properly, it picks up 7 but it's choppy and cuts out. 2, 10 and SBS are a no go.
He lives out in the sticks past Ipswich and reception in general is pretty poor, yet his reception for Channel 2 is actually the best of the lot with the analog antenna. So it seems odd that 2 wouldn't come through digitally.
I'm wonding if there's anything (cheap) we can try in order to pick up the other channels.

$50 powered indoor antenna (also has roof antena pass though), and then crank the s*** out of the gain.

So does increasing the gain on that boost the strength of the signal? He has a roof-mounted antenna btw.

just get mr attenna out, You need more strenght with digital tv with most set top boxes there is actually a status bar showing you the strenght and quality of the signal if this is tooo low you need a new attenna

If we have to spend more than say, $50, it's not going to be worth it. I may as well just take it back and get him something else for Christmas.
