Twas just at OCAU's and there was a thread about this.
Anyway, apparently you don't have to be 18 now to get in to Gold Class. Looks like some f***** thought it was discrimination and was gonna sue so they have changed their policy. I just had a look on the Greater Union website and it had this there... Guests must be at least 18 years of age when visiting Gold Class at Greater Union MEGAPLEXES Innaloo and Marion only. Proof of identification may be required. So it looks like those are the only two cinemas that are 18+, the rest can let anyone in. The whole point of Gold Class is to get away from kids and the general population who think it's ok to talk and make smart-ass comments thru-out the movie. This is another reason to watch movies in the comfort of your home where you don't have to put up with the dreggs of society. |

I thoguth the whole point of gold class being 18+ was that alcohol is served on premises, therefore it's the law that it's 18+.
Therefore, kiddles can go die. |

There is a bar offering alcohol, unless they have bent liquor licensing rules, under 18's are not allowed into that area. The whole reason it was over 18's only was because of the bar and liqour licensing in the first place.

"No blacks" Surely if left entirely to market forces, such a racist policy would bankrupt a business, through boycotts etc? Gold class cinemas are doing just fine without being forced to let the ankle biters in. |

I don't really care that much, just having to pay $25 to see a movie generally gets rid of the people who make movies a pain to watch in normal cinemas.

I agree with what shad said, plus in Gold Class you have the ushers comming in and out through out the movie serving people their food,so i imagine that they would say something to people they see causing s***.

No its for people who want to watch a movie in peace without teenage girls, without crying babys and without idiots and their laser pointers. A nice quiet movie experience.

your a tight ass. 10 $ is the student price for normal movies. The best price you can get for gold class is during mon-fri in the daytime its about 15 dollars. Do you have any idea about pricing? they cannot sell tickets for 10 dollars when they have staff waiting on you, and all the other extra things that cost them money in the first place.

gold class rocks, but that is really dumb to have under 18's permitted now.
although i really dont think there will be too much of an issue, since like shad said the tards cant/dont want to fork out the extra money. plus just choose to see the movie at a later time like 9pm and there will be no kids. i got quite a few free gc tickets. infact, me and gf are going to see king kong in gc tomozza. centre-back ftw. |

Most people wont be paying $30 a tickek to 'Run a muck'
Also, When I goto the Movies, the 15 yo's suck in the previews, but then shut up. While the Mid 20 Fags decide it's ok to talk, discuss the movie, and what they are doing after. These are also more likely to tell the actors in the movie what they are doing wrond (Which is f***ing anoying) (I'm early-mid 20's myself, and no, not the one to talk at a movie) |

Interesting, afaik you've never had to be 18+ to get into Gold Class in any Melbourne cinemas. When I went and saw Star Wars Ep1 & 2 in gold class there were kids both times, I don't generally tend to go to gold class though because im cheap and I find the people that work there coming in all the time during the movie to serve people their foods/drinks pretty annoying as well.

How dare people say underage people can't go in an area that serves alcohol.
I mean what next? Descrimination because you can't get into a men's club becauswe you are a woman? f*** I can't wait for a man to sue Fernwood because they won't let male members. This is just bulls***. DEAL WITH IT PEOPLE. YOU MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO THINGS IN LIFE... THAT IS WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT. At least it should be. Now we are just a nation filled with selfish f***tards |

People should be able to run private clubs i.e. fernwood, tats. If you're not wanted in there, there are heaps of other places to go.
It's the attention whores who like to make a big deal out of them. "Omg i can't get into this gym - discrimination! Although there are 50,000 other gyms in Brisbane I wanna go to this one becuase its the only one that won't let me in." Ho hum, nagging whinning f***ers. DIAF already. Gold class is a fun experience but it's not worth the money imo. last edited by infi at 15:43:28 19/Dec/05 |

Southbank is cool for the cheapass factor (and the imax screen), but the cinemas are pretty much of the quality you'd expect for $5. It doesn't really compare at all to the luxurious decadence of seeing a movie in Gold Class. |

What's to say someone wants to take their kids into a nightclub?
What's stopping nightclub owners being threatened with legal action like other places. Hell, I could even try and sue anyone here because you wont let me come into your house. |

It was from Wrongfully Accused. The part where Leslie Neilson is arguing with the guard on the prison bus.
