so... i'm in sydney with a 'lady friend' and i'd love for you guys to give me some suggestions of things to go and see or good bars and clubs to visit. i'm staying at potts point... so anything near here (kings cross, bondi junction or the city) would be excellent.

ps. i'm posting this from my mobile phone (k750i) using opera mobile.

How'd you manage to get Opera going? I was trying to get hold of it (also have a K750i) but thought it was only available in Europe at this stage.

Govindas in the cross is a nice date. They have all you can eat vegetarian smorgasboard (no where near as bad as it sounds) then a small cinema up stairs where you lay down on big cushins to enjoy the film. Last time i went it was <$15 per person.

a link about it

the rocks/darling harbour area is nice at night, there's a few clubs along the water where you get a nice harbour breeze during the summer. (bungalow 8 ftw)
Casino buffet & gambling highly recommended

Do a harbour ferry trip, just jump on a circular quay and head to darling harbour, your female friend will enjoy it and it will only take 10 minutes so you yourself won't get too bored.

While you're waiting for the ferry you can do the compulsary photos of the bridge / opera house / city etc

if you want a lad-de-dah club where you and your lady friend can get all purdied up, establishment on george st (close to wynyard station) is more pretencious than GPO.

Lunch / Shopping @ Bondi is good, train drops you right outside the shopping centre in a bus depot.
A Bus will take you to bondi beach or you can go and visit the (massive) eight story westfield.

if it's only one stop you're either at kings cross, wynyard or town hall.
either way it will be quicker to walk from your hotel to martin place.
I live at central and I walk to town hall/wynyard/martin place etc when I go clubbing, it's nothing like the distance you would imagine coming from the Brisbanes train system.

A cab would be recommended to/from the casino simply because it's a bit of a maze, and it's cheap as chips anyway.

i did a bit of exploring today... i went to bondi junction and walked right around the outside of the westfield you're talking about... it is giant! i spotted some nasty dnb at the 'kings x hotel' which is actually right next to my hotel (i'm staying at the holiday inn, potts point) i think i might try to convince her to go there... i don't like my chances much though.. thanks for the advice brett

go towards camp cove, there is a mighty fine establishment just on the harbour that you cant miss. have a lovely lunch. then wander down to camp cove itself, its a tiny little beach on the harbour side of south head where you can chill for a bit or swim in the extremly clear water. ive got pix!

then you can take the path around the headland to the very tip of south head, with the big lighthouse and lots of gun emplacements from WW2 and earlier. lots of plaques and s*** to read along the way. then enjoy the f***en awesome view of the harbour while she is riding the massive mongie manhood.

I agree with Govindas, that place rocks..

Things to do in Sydney would be sit down at circular quay in one of the many many little trendy bars, have some beers and watch the ferries come in and out at night. There's also catching the Manly ferry at night, coming back is quite spectacular. Walk from Bondi upto Coogee, quite a nice walk and of course go check out some seedy place in the cross.

For the people that live in Sydney - does anyone know this club in the city (think its next to the Hilton maybe?) I think it's called Arthouse? Or was about 4 years ago when it just opened up. Was a pretty cool place back in the day, with a DJ booth set up high in one of the walls. Does that place still exist?
