Anyone have a good source of game sounds (ie wavs/midis)? I'd like to import some to my mobile as alert tones without having to dig up old install discs and take them that way.

Why don't you pay for them like all the cool kids who watch video hits do?
P.S. They're cool |

Your best bet is to get the game that you want the sound for and download a program that can extract the sound files. I have done this with a few games but it depends if there is a tool for extracting. If you want sounds from an old school game, many emulators can record sound and many games have a sound test mode.
As for midi, there are heaps of midi files on the net for older games (NES, SNES etc). |

Play the sound really loud and record it on your phone.

without having to dig up old install discs I have Doom/Doom2/Duke3D MIDIs on my phone but there is no way that I can verify that you own the games to send tracks to you. |

There's plenty of midi sites around, just google for game midi files etc.

Creepy: VGMusic wasn't working for me earlier today... can you access it from there? It may just be my work firewall.
In particular I'm looking for individual sounds rather than theme tunes, since I have plenty of ring tones and can find those easily enough but want things like the mario 1-up, coin noise, DoA "KO" noise etc as msg alerts and alarms. |

Creepy: VGMusic wasn't working for me earlier today... can you access it from there? It may just be my work firewall. Just checked and yeah, it's very broken. It was working not two days ago and has been around for yonks, so hopefully it's temporary. Your best bet for stuff like that is to search for a "blahblah sound scheme" - found a couple Mario ones.. Heh. Super Mario Bros mp3 is my cellphone ringtone here |
