Want daylight saving in QLD ?? Petition here --> http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/EPetitions_QLD/cgi-bin/Petitions.cgi?PetNum=553
I'm sure the curtains will not fade any more or less with daylight saving in place, but surely it will help those who have to contact the southern states when they are on daylight saving. Vote 1 for uniformity among the (eastern) states !! |

Uniformity amongst the states yes.. but THEY must conform to the Eastern Standard longitudinal time line... we already do. NO to daylight saving, it's a stupid concept.

also, imma posting this funny gif... coz i larf'd. http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~boldajis/images/soj.gif But to contribute to the thread, I dislike the transitions between normal and DLS time, so I'd vote for no DLS. last edited by parabol at 10:57:05 19/Oct/05 |

Gaylight savings for the lose
The sooner the other states understand this an stop using this dumb s*** the better... Really, if they must have it (an the premise on having an extra hour of daylight) why don't they have it in Winter when the days are shorter and would benefit more? |

Really, if they must have it (an the premise on having an extra hour of daylight) why don't they have it in Winter when the days are shorter and would benefit more?Because its freezing in winter and its too cold to do anything fnu and winter sucks! VOTE #1 ON DAYLIGHT SAVING! I'll fill out this petition on the grounds that it has a .gov.au address. It actually looks (relatively) good - you have to fill in all sorts of details. GO FOR IT!@# |

11244 signatories so far, daylight savings is awesome and can't believe we're so behind the times to have not adopted it by now.

Another vote for daylight savings.
Just the fact that when you get home from work you still have a few hours of daylight is win. When I lived on the Far North Coast in NSW, after school I would head down to the beach (Ballina, Byron) and get a 3-4 hours surf in before dark. Obviously I never did any homework. last edited by mission at 12:45:39 19/Oct/05 |

It'd be good to have all of the eastern cities on the same time zone. If the famers are scared that it'll confuse the cows then make rural QLD on normal time and just put Brisbane + the Gold Coast on daylight savings time.

i find it embarassing that qld hasnt embraced daylight savings
we have to deal with our sydney office all the time and daylight savings just fuxors that large i blame my parents, old people and country people for qld not having it i say f*** the rest of qld and just south east brisbane adopt daylight savings perhaps even we become our own state so we dont have to be associated with lame old/country people ps: im not siging the petition though, coz online petitions are only slightly less of a waste of time than those emails u get where if you forward them on bill gates gives you money last edited by Spook at 13:05:03 19/Oct/05 |

I'm all for DLS, love coming home to some daylight so I can jump in the pool, or go for a walk or something. HERMItech: not all of us can pick our working hours for various reasons.

you can't do those things if it's a little bit dark? hmmm... maybe this is why doom3 wasn't well liked, you damn darkness haterz ;]
to be honest i don't really care if it is re-introduced or not... i do the same things i do regardless of other people concept of time. even the mis-alignment of the timeline on the east coast doesn't bother me much... i don't watch much tv & i have to deal with people who are on way different longitudes without any problems making the mental adjustment. time is a concept, dls time doubly so. top work on the .gifs though |

What 'mental adjustment' do you have to make?! It's only one hour difference. Three hours, on the other hand, is simply a pain in the ass.

the mental adjustment of not ringing workmates in belgium while they are sleeping just because it's the morning for me, usually. it's not only an hour because if you read what i wrote in my previous post i only have to make a mental adjustment for people that are on way different longitudes... not east coast australians.

Daylight savings is garbage.
If you want to get up an hour earlier in the morning set your alarm an hour forward. If your boss wants your work to move an hour forward then do it. You do not require some arbitrary time shift to run your life, take it into your own hands and live it how you wish. |

Here here for S.E QLD only DLS zone. If regional and far north QLD don't want it, good for them they can stay on the old way. While the greater brisbane area switches onto it. Stubborn farmers with thier "important" rural votes in previous governments have held us up for too long. Politicians need some balls, good to see the premier is pushing for DLS for us down here. And yes, a governement run petition is alot more credible than those anonymous websites people can spam and thus ruin the petitions. I will fill this out also. |

Here here for S.E QLD only DLS zone. If regional and far north QLD don't want it, good for them they can stay on the old way. It works better the further south you go. Far north qld has similar sunset times all year round, tassy would have big differences. |

What exactly is the argument for NOT having an hour extra in the evening, instead of early in the morning? So you miss an hour sleep, one day, once a year.

old ignorant queenslanders think that peter beatie will eat their children if they implement daylight saving
also, the same ignorant queenslanders think that fluoride in town water will implant tracking microchips in your brain so the 'govment' can track you... but that deserves its own thread... |

Most of the rest of QLD don't need it. or it really doesn't affect them.
'The cows won't know what time they get milked at' ahahaha. no way, that was a serious reason for being against it? haha. |
