Ok so I bought a bunch of DVDs a while back (not dirt cheap either) and they've turned out to be an utter bucket of f***. I can't read them in an Xbox, Pioneer DVD player, PC DVD-ROM and a Laptop DVD-RW (the same drive that burnt them).
Is there any brand of DVDROM/RW out there that is known to be able to read discs better than other players? |

a Laptop DVD-RW (the same drive that burnt them). have you tried updating your DVDRW firmware and burning software on your lappy? http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php will probably list your laptops DVDRW |

What brand are the discs? What brand is your PC DVD-ROM? Have you tried using DVD-Identifier on the blank (or otherwise) discs? If not, try and let us know what you get.

my other dvd player can't even read discs it burned using an earlier firmware version yet any other dvd player I have can read them. How gay is that? gg firmware updates that actually break the ability to read a dvd instead of fixing it.
Is there any brand of DVDROM/RW out there that is known to be able to read discs better than other players?I'd be more inclined to ask if there's a brand of disc out there that's known to be able to be read by any drive, rather than any drive that can read "bucket of f***" brand dvd's :p |

Manufacturer Name: Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd.
Manufactuere ID: YUDEN000 Media Type ID: T02 I have some discs which work now and are great, just need to get the info off these f***ers. DVDRW is a HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N .. Some hitachi/LG hybrid. DVDROM is an LG run of the mill 52x job. |

Yeah my DVD burner used to be really buggy with reading DVD's and it would always burn DVD's at half or quarter teh disc's rated speed. A firmware update later and now it works like a charm.

They're prolly s*** discs that die after being burnt past the 3gig mark. I had that happen with a bunch of s***hause DVD's from Strathfield. Will never buy from there again.
