IGN have posted their review of Quake 4, giving it a score of 8.2. Again the review is focused on singleplayer, with the inevitable comparisons to Doom 3 and only making minor mention of the most important part of the game. Thankfully they have managed to include a heap of new screenshots.

Multiplayer was fun across the board, although having only nine maps to work with felt a little restricting. And unfortunately, only a few of them displayed that creative flair we've become used to from Quake. They also felt engineered for around 16 players. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I fondly recall playing Quake 2 on a LAN back in college with as few as two or three players.

As expected it seems the multiplayer content has more in common with the first two Quakes, leaving the community and possible expansion packs to pick up the slack.

Ignorant twits.

quake was the best multiplayer experience of the lot.

Q2 was s*** and Q3 was them realizing they f***ed up and making a mardigras anime version of quake with quake 2 influences. Gay and s***!

I agree with Obes. Quake was the best multiplayer game. CTF was the best. Not sure what I'll do with Quake 4. Might wait and see what the uptake is like and if there are any thriving multiplayer mods in a couple of months. Otherwise my cash will stay in my wallet.

it's good to know that this game will run natively in widescreen. I'm looking forward to the multiplayer...i guess i could just go play some quake3 instead :P nah I'm sure it will be cool.
