i received my orders today..

6 months providing security for the jap builders..

looks like april is the starting month..

oh well.. it was bound to happen one day, at least the money is tax free..

i have been training since 1990, its a bit like training for a football game and always sitting on the bench when a game is played..

so, in a way i am happy, but then, in a way i am not..

i will be doing some full on training b4 i go, prolly will have time to drop in at an RE bash or two.. ;)

i have a feeling that this won't be the last time i do overseas service, the way wars are popping up around the world there will be a lot a work to do..

i am going to miss my wife and son.. :(

Stay safe. Keep your head down. Don`t give up. You might see hell. You might not.

You will meet alot of nice iraqi people. Don`t be an ass to them.

Stay safe

60 years ago the japs were trying to kill us, now we're putting our QGL gamers lives on the line to protect them in the middle of the desert somewhere :P

good luck mate, watch out for camel spiders and sandy camel toes.

Good luck man, take care. There's no respawns in RL.

Don't shoot hostages or you'll get less money. And just get an AWP so you can shoot your enemies through walls.

Why dont they send their own troops to protect their own soldiers?

I'm a fanboy of army training, but hate the thought of actually going to war or being involved in other such duties.

Oh f***

UNIDENTIFIED gunmen had opened fire on Australian soldiers patrolling near Iraq's southern city of Samawah, the chief of the Australian Defence Force said today.
Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said no Australians were injured and no shots were fired in return.

Two gunmen escaped into the darkness.

Air Chief Marshal Houston said a second six-month rotation of 450 troops was preparing to go to Iraq under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Peter Short.

Their job remains the same as the first rotation – training the Iraqi military and providing security for Japanese military engineers.

"At this stage we are just focused on this rotation. There is no training going on for a further rotation. What happens after is entirely a matter for government," he said.

Because it is against Japan's constitution to send it's soldiers to other countries unless it is in the defense of their nation.

Primal: trog was saying he was talking to you and you were in the police force now?

have you been called up from the reserves? or did you volunteer for full time service? from your post i assumed you werent that keen on being sent so i assumed you had been called up. however, i didnt realise reserves had been called up? as in made to go.

i got a phone call from my WO who asked nicely and gave me some valid reasons for me being there..

my state gov. boss is a little on the peeved side, in a big way..

there is no general call up of part time soldiers..

most will be full timers, they just needed some part timers who have selective and useful skills..

normally a part timer needs to sign up for a year or 2 full time for overseas service..

i don't..
