Hey guys,
Im running a wireless network at home, however only 1 laptop is wireless. My other 2 pcs are just running wired to the router. The problem lies when downloading via torrent programs with the WIRED PC's. The speeds are horrible when connected to the router. Im talking 1k/s. I have removed the router from the network, and tried downloading the same files when just connected to the modem and the speeds are 10k +. Any idea why this might be? Its a D-Link DI-524 Airplus G 802.11g/2.4ghz. I have tried changing channels, but this 'shouldn't' make a difference anyway considering its the WIRED pcs that are suffering from slow downloads? (i wouldn't dream of downloaded/copying files from wireless) Any suggestions would be awesome. |

in the manual should be a page that tells you how to get to the advanced setup page usually just typing 192.168.0.1 (or some variation) into browser brings it up

(i wouldn't dream of downloaded/copying files from wireless)wireless is still faster than your internet so it doesnt really matter. either way you need to forward ports etc. google for the correct ports to forward to your machines ip. set a static(non autoassigned) so your machines ip doesnt change after awhile. last edited by Fuknukle at 15:11:40 28/Aug/05 |

No good guys... I checked out a few FAQ sites and did exactly what it said to do on the Dlink site... no avail.
http://support.dlink.com/faq/faq_images/di524/bittorrent.gif http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1347 I even searched 'ABC' port number which comes up as 56666 in google. Still slow speeds guys.. any other ideas? |

www.portforward.com
also fuknukle is right, even 10mbit wireless is only as fast as telstra/optus cable... if you've got 108mbit wireless you can copy files fairly well, although a wired connection is always faster |
