Ok, for all you AJ's out there, plok and I got into an argument with plok's crazy british cousin, and he was talking all this smack about how he thought the English army was better than ours.

I hope your army guys aren't slacking off and letting them be better than you; we're better than them at everything else, dammit - except perhaps making really stupid tv shows about stupid people stuck on some stupid island doing stupid things.

Restore my faith in my tax dollars!

UK vs AU?

You all know the answer to this.

Aussies will ALWAYS beat the Pommy c***s at ANYTHING.

This is because of the simple fact that they f***ing whinge and bitch about everything (speaking of which, Barak are you a pom?).

Yeah, they may have formed the British Special Air Service Regiment a while ago, but our AU SASR kicks thier scrawny arses now.

The poms whine about the weather and getting their faces grubby, where as on the other hand our elite boys have been trained in the harshest climate and terrain.

We consistantly OWN the Yanks in all our war games (Kangaroo, Croc etc.) but those Americans are just plain s***. Their individual soldier skills are pitiful. The Brits have to be better then them, but we have not had an excercise with them for quite a while (as of my knowledge).

So in a nutshell, Australian Soldier Kick f***en Ass (ASKFA). I might be a little biased but f*** you, I am a patriotic c***.

I have been told that aussie troops are one the most highly trained soldiers in the world (second to isreal i think)

Yeah that is only because we don't have any stone-throwing Palestinian c***s to practice our aim with.

Although...it is always fun stirring up the Indonesians :Þ

hmm...well you ppl do know that the Australian defence force just acquired an extra 3 billion in federal funding after an evaluation concluded that it was so under equipped it would have absolutely no chance of defending the country?

it was all over the news about a month ago if you remember

heh Gobo!

Floods? pffft....no worries. Send in the diggers!

Yeah, but atleast we know how to wipe out an Arab nation - bomb their dams and flood the mongrels!
Their Armies would be completely unprepared and drown horribly :)

Drail. This topic was based on comparing individual soldier skills - something in which Australian soldiers are unequalled.

What are you trying to say Drail? You think our Army is s***? You afraid of getting raped by an marauding Fijian force?

Who's side are you on anyway ffs?

yeah man our army is underfunded thats no news
but our training is higher then alot of other armys

for example

when a hummer for the us army gets a flat tyre

guess what they sit there and wait for a guy to come out from base to change
f*** that s***

just cause we dont 40 trillion dollars to spend doesnt mean we cant receive a high standard of training

Don't forget that too much money can also be a bad thing. If they (an army) is used to having too many resources what are they going to do when they don't have any (in times of economic hardship and wars n stuff)? Run naked and screaming into the hills? :)Maybe its just as well the australian army isn't as bloated as the americans - excessive amounts of money and equipment don't replace training - in any field of work, not just the armed forces.

maybee but a bloated army budget is prolly more about avoiding fights and control than defence.

yeah take the whole cold war thing

the us military budget was MASSIVE, yet there wasn't ever really any chance of a war between the US and USSR.

(no one would have been stupid enough to fire and besides it was better politically to just milk it for all it was worth, like ronald reagan did)

Very valid points raised by Pete and Neff.

The Aussie Army believes in cross training it's soldiers, so we can always do someone elses job if required. Like I can do the job of a Signaller even though I am Infantry. Alot of this type of multi skilling goes on.

That is unheard of in alot of other nations forces, esp. the American losers. They can't even put up their own tents ffs.
They have a specific platoon attached to a unit called "Tent Erectors" heh!

Hey Strex who need's stone throwing Palistinian's when we have you hehehehehe.

Put simply the Aust Army concetrates it's training on the smallest unit size ie.section size and in the process individual skills are greatly improved plus soldiers become alot more self reliant as well as they get trained in very job their unit has to perform. This gives us a well trained force at an individual level. Our guy's are also encouraged to use their brains abit and think for themselv'es.

I have worked with the Pom's and they are to much about spit and polish although they are still good and certainly better than the Yank's.But it'll be a cold day in hell b4 the pom's are better than us.

well here is another example of american stupidity

in world war 2 the american general in charge of the pacific mr mcauther i think was trying to get the australians to push harder up through asia.

mcauther was a us marine btw
his argument on our work was that our casualties werent high enough so there fore we wernt pushing as fast as we could

so yeah all the money in world cant make up for idiot orders like that it helps hell thats the reason the us is in the position its in now but it doesnt make up for s*** like that the americans are rich but they cant afford to say well we havent lost enough ships we arnt pushing hard enough

The Yanks have always liked to throw huge amounts of money and man power at all of it's conflicts just look at what they did in Vietnam. What they don't seem to get is that if they concentrated on individual training, they wouldn't have commit such a huge force to every little scrap they get in to.

Yanks work on the idea of PEACE THROUGH OVERWHELMING FIRE POWER.Which they do have but if you looked at the yanks stats after a war they would look fairly s***house. But countries like Australia have to get the most out of every man and machine so we train that way.

Which makes us more than just a little bit more effective than the Yanks.

I have a cousin in Signals, and his brother is coming back from training in the (netherlands?) to serve a commanding post on one of the new collins class subs...

The big whinge about the collins class is a load of s***.

They making a small problem into a big issue. If it was a big problem, then fixing it wouldn't cost 60 million, but fricken 3 billion. That's the fact. It's just that the collins class subs are fine, perfect and almost undetectable - as long as they don't go over 6 knots...

I think the american subs Ohio class subs can go 20 plus knots, yet they are still more silent than the water environment around em...

That's just taking it a bit too far... the collins class do the job, and f***it, the media don't know s***.

soz had to have my say on the armed forces s***.

can't defend our country MY ARSE.

If those indonesians invade Oz, I'll grab my BB gun and go north myself.

geezus

hey and who else would come with me north to fight?

The yanks have three big things going for them.

Lots of dumb c***s who think charging machien gun nests is a good tactic (if they know that word at all).

Lots of high tech fancy stuff, which can blow a lot of stuff up.

Lastly, the power to move more firepower, and people across the world in a week, with full support, and not break a sweat.

Logstics is the major power of the US armed forces.

Which is why the US often wins battles in combined force battles. The other forces have the specilty forces needed to do the advanced s***. The US moves everything in the known universe to hold it.
